Episode 3:

Spoiler:
Keep Hope Alive

Matt and Francesca face off in the first duel on Redemption Island.

Please don't let Philip get voted off. He is GOLD.

Here's the synopsis:
Spoiler:
One tribe weighs risk over reward as they contemplate doing the unthinkable and hoping to benefit in the long run; while on Redemption Island, it's do or die as Matt and Francesca face off in the first duel to see who will stay or go on the island.

I'm thinking that means
Spoiler:
either Russell or Rob will get voted out tonight. Seeing as the preview last week showed Russell's tribe plotting against him, I'd say he's the safe bet.

Hard to believe no one has been eliminated from the game yet.

I think.....
Spoiler:
Russell's tribe plans on forfeiting the challenge just so they can vote him off.

I agree.
Spoiler:
And it would be a smart move, especially for the alpha males. The longer Russell hangs around, the more people he can sway to his way of thinking. But despite that ... Russell will probably make it through, with the tribe finding a way to fuck up the plan. Maybe something like the dumbass with the HII being so much of an annoyance that everyone gets sick of him. And being a dumbass, he'll go home with the idol in his pocket. But I really hope not. I've already managed 2 seasons dominated by Russell's plotting ... I don't want a third. At least Rob changes up his strategy. Russell just does the same thing over and over, but everyone's too stupid to stop it.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

They don't get voted off redemption island do they? I thought they competed in a challenge to stick around.

Right, but the loser of the challenge is sent home.

For what it's worth, the episode title is -

Spoiler:
Keep Hope Alive

So that's not a bad prediction.

I dont like that anybody watches the Redemption Island challenge. I think it would be much better if they are completely unaware of who is there other than the last person they sent.

Pretty smart move on Julie's (?) part to not flip and go with Russell and crew. She flips and they still don't have numbers so flipping doesn't make much sense.

Stephanie has some balls on her. She goes into Tribal talking shit (which might be why Julie decided not to flip after all) and even after Russell gets voted out she's still talking shit. She's not long for this game.

The best part is initially she was the one most upset about Russell entering the game and joining her tribe. I'm pretty confident that Russell will beat Matt next week and we'll end up with a Russell/Rob face-off at RI at some point.

Yep, didn't like that at all. Plus it takes up too much time of the show, so we get less time with them at camp.

It would be much more entertaining for Rob or Russell to end up there and run the table to get back in the game and shock everybody at their return.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011

I thought the black chick was going to beat the blond dude. In the end the blond dude ended up beating the black chick. Now Russell has to go against the blond dude, instead of the black chick. He thought he'd be facing the black chick, not the blond dude. Black chick...blond dude

I liked how Russell didn't even know the name of "the old lady" on his tribe yet.

That's his people skills at work.

Russell just went into this season with the wrong game plan. Rob is definitely playing a much smarter game. And I am a Russell fan. It'll be interesting to see if he can run the gauntlet on Redemption.

Rob is gonna be elated

Very entertaining episode, especially with the confidence Russell and Stephanie had going into TC, only to see the smiles wiped off their faces while Ralph sat there and laughed at them.

I'm not really sure what those dolts on Russell's tribe think they were accomplishing by lying about who won the RI challenge.

Not just Rob. You're going to hear a huge cheer when Jeff tells them "Russell voted out at last tribal council"

 Seemed a strange move to me too, especially since they hadn't confirmed the "throw the challenge" strategy. I guess they got an extra kick out of imaging Russell thinking he'd have the advantage, only to see a younger stronger guy there instead.

I'm just amazed those idiots pulled it off  I was thinking that Ralph wasn't going to take any chances and reveal he had the HII (meaning they didn't have to worry about splitting votes). I wonder if Stephanie's bratty attitude was the difference between the "old lady" sticking with her original alliance versus siding with Russell.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011

I don't think Julie ever considered voting with Russell. She just humored them by listening to their plan and the producers edited it to give us a more exciting tribal council. The guy doing the puzzle couldn't have been more obvious about throwing the competition. From that point on, I'm sure Russell knew he was getting the boot.

cdollaz 03-02-11 10:16 PM

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011

I guess there is a chance that Rob's tribe, upon finding out that Russell was voted out, will re-think their strategy and determine that it might be best to get him out early.

I was looking forward to Russell being voted out, but after that pathetic challenge-throwing, I now hope he comes back and picks each of them off.
