Saying anyone who has never won is one of the best players ever is entirely subjective.
That he was dragged through much of the game by Parvati in Heroes vs Villians and in both seasons his game was entirely reliant on finding hidden immunity idols while searching through camp when finding idols was simply not an option in any other previous seasons besides China makes it debateable how effective a player he is . He was dragged through much of the game by Parvati? Man, that's a good one. She doesn't even make it to the merge without Russell saving her ass. Anything to discredit Russell. He's probably not the greatest survivor ever but he's certainly one of the best. |
Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
Yea, Howie, you sound really stupid when you say things like that. Parvati didn't manipulate Russell into giving her the idol on HvV. She was just as shocked as everyone else. That was all Russell - it saved his ass, and his biggest ally's ass.
We get it, you don't like Russell. Have fun rooting against him next week. You're certainly entitled to. |

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
Am I the only one who misses the voting recap at the end. I used to hate when they did the dual tribals at the finale and left out the recap but now it's gone entirely thanks to the R.I. trek.
Why not just a small graphic tally at the bottom of the screen or better yet use the empty pillars along the sides. (Sorry non-HD viewers.) It seems there's been a lot of reused challenges lately. About four season's back the challenges seemed like they were really invigorated with new ideas but they're growing stale again. |
Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
This is the first season of Survivor i have watched in probably 9 years, and I have one question, how many hidden immunity idols does each camp have? They didnt have the Immunity Idols back when i watched it, so thats the only thing that is kinda confusing me?

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
It will come as no surprise that I DO NOT think Howie "sounds really stupid."
Talk about missing the point. On the two seasons Russell was on where people didn't know anything about him beforehand, people eventually decided he'd probably be a good Final 3 partner because of how unpleasant he is. On the first season he's on after people have had the displeasure of watching him on television, they can't get rid of him soon enough. Really tells you something. |

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I got the impression that the people were only invited to the first RI challenge to see the arena.
I think it's hilarious that the mush-mouth mansweater is leading his alliance and spells Russell "Ressel". What a complete moran, and so are the rest of them for voting Russell out so soon. Get rid of the two chicks first, at least Russell can be useful in challenges. Throwing the challenge was also incredibly stupid IMO. |
Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I also found the puzzle-thrower (cant remember his name) insistence that he was not throwing it a bit bizarre. Everyone on his alliance knew it, and it was clear he had not fooled the other 3 folks with his superb "My mind was moving even if my hands weren't" story... all that does is make the 2 remaining folks potentially bitter at you specifically (as opposed to just being bitter at the whole alliance)... why not just say the alliance decided to do it and he was just doing what everyone agreed to do?
And this fractured 9 vs strong 6 is absurd... for several reasons: - They'd still have a strong 6 within the 9 if they got to the merge in tact - The likelihood of running the table is slim/none - They had a 6-3 majority and could have thrown a challenge much later in the game - They gave up a chance at a tarp - And the most important consideration: They opened up the very real possibility they won't make it to the merge with 6. If there is an each tribe eliminate a player challenge, that leaves them with only one other challenge loss before they start cutting into their alliance pre-merge. If they lose say next week, they eliminate one of the chicks and hope to run the table the rest of the way? (assuming there is an individual immunity challenge and they take out the other chick then) They left themselves with little margin for error the rest of the way |
Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I'm disappointed that challenges involving swimming or going out in rafts of some kind seem to have gone away. The last one I seem to remember was in Russel's first episode right after they picked teams.
When does the Redemption Island person come back into the game? I thought that after each duel that the winner would come back into the game. Will the last person surviving RI at the time of the merge come back in or something? |

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
Stephanie should do the world a favor and walk into oncoming traffic. Also, I'm sure Russell will stick around for a while. This whole season was designed to give him and Rob every possible chance to stay in the game.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I think you guys are all taking the challenge throw lie too seriously. They were discussing it right in front of the cameras. Everything they did last night was to give Russell a taste of his own medicine. Messing with him at every turn. I'm sure they would have copped to it if they were alone with Probst.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
The whole "let's tell him Fran won" thing is pointless. What does it really do? Besides show that he was lied to... big deal, people lie all the time in Survivor. It's not like he gets to RI and immediately have to duel. So the whole "it'll throw him off" doesn't work either.
He got there, realized it was Matt that won, and that was it. Who cares. |

Good luck luck on Redemption Island against Francesca" (and keep that lie going). THAT sort of boldness would have been giving him a taste of his own medicine.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I was underwhelmed by the arena showdown being a mini challenge. I guess I was expecting Roman gladiators or something.

Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
I always hate it when a tribe loses on purpose. As many others have stated, it was too early to start eating your own. If the other tribe wins the next one I think they are toast.
|
Re: Survivor: Redemption Island -- March 2, 2011
Here's an interesting thought - I wonder if tribe's will start voting off stronger castaways in order to ensure Russell gets beaten. That's of course, if Russell beats Matt (which I think he will).
