How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

Since it appears that most in this forum watch their shows via DVR rather than Live. Just wondering how fast your go through them.

Usually about 1 week behind. Not a choice in your poll though.

I do pretty well, but with both series 1 and 2 of Being Human (UK) being recorded prior to Series 3's premier on Saturday night - I'm doing double time trying to catch up.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

It depends on what's going on during the week. If I'm home for the night, what gets watched is determined by what I most want to see. Sometimes I don't have time for everything. But, for sure, the DVR is cleared of the week's recordings by the end of the weekend.

Usually the night they air, or by the following weekend.

There are a few shows like Fringe that I prefer to watch in 4-5 episode bursts when I have a non-busy weekend.

Typically within 3-5 days, although there are some shows that let build up a few episodes before watching them.

Varies greatly. Some shows I watch night of, while others will build up a few weeks that I then have to work my way through when I have time. Just deleted like 20+ Conans though. So I guess for that one, never.

Yeah, I have mine set to only keep the very latest Conan episode. Handy if I'm ever in the mood to watch it...

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

I've got movies that have been there for months, but for television shows I usually watch them within a day or two.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

It depends on the show. Shows I love like Chuck, Community, and Justified I watch the same night they air. I just make sure the show has enough of a head start so I can skip commercials. Shows I watch with my wife normally within the week whenever we both have time to watch. I haven't been that interested in animated shows lately so fox's sunday night lineup tends to build up. I think I finally made it to the december episodes the other day.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

As with others, it depends on the show. I will watch most of the competition based reality programs (AR, Survivor, Top Chef, etc...) on the same night so I'm not spoiled on who goes home. There are also still a handful of entertainment shows that I will watch on the night they air (like Mad Men, the Office, Raising Hope). For other shows, I try to block out a day of the week to watch that show (For instance I now watch Chuck on Sunday mornings). Sometimes I fall behind (I'm really behind on Shameless now), but I try to stay reasonably caught up.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

The shows I watch with the wife are pretty fast. The ones I watch with the kids take up to a week. Stuff I watch myself... well, I have all of Chuck's current season to watch, and I might end up deleting them unwatched if we get close to BD date.

I try to keep up and usually do pretty well (thus, voting 1-2 days), but it varies with schedule fluctuations and such.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

Usually 3-5 days.

With the exception of Hawaii 5-0, of which I had 13 episodes recorded before watching a single one.

Within 3-5 days. Otherwise I would run out of space.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

I really need a TIVO cause my DVR really maxes out when I record alot of shows in hidef - I've been saving two HDNet concerts (for a VERY long time) in hopes of one day transferring them to my compter - but they take up a massive amount of space.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

Now that we are with child, our time of watching tv is reduced.

DVR is at about 76% right now

We have unwatched:

11 episodes of Maury
3 episodes of Idiot abroad
2 episodes of the Cape
4 episodes of Heavy
1 episode of Biggest Loser
2 episodes of American Idol
4 episodes of I Shouldn't be Alive

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

It depends on the show.
Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Justified, Southland, Bros & Sis to name a few are watched pretty quickly .. within a couple of days.
Others: Million Dollar Listing, Renovation Realities, Flipping Out tend to pile up a bit...
We have all last season of Rescue Me to watch ... I'm thinking thats a sign we're just not that into it anymore.

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

The shows I like the most - within a day.

So shows like The Office, Community, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Glee, Chuck, HIMYM. The Vampire Diaries and Modern Family are all watched almost immediately.

Everything else can wait anywhere from a week to 6 months. I still have episodes of V, and The Event sitting on there

Re: How Fast Do You Watch Your DVR Recordings?

I'll watch most everything that night or the next, but there's usually a couple stragglers that I don't get to until a few days later.
My DVR doesn't have tons of space, so I try to keep it pretty clear.
