This episode's simple take on P.Y.T. was much better than Sunday's overblown Thriller number. And really, just a better episode overall. It's funny... I think this episode would have played better to a newbie than the Super Bowl one, even with the character history stuff involved.

Really nice episode. I thought PYT and the final number were great.

DRG, agreed on all counts. PYT was better than Thriller. I really think it's because we were able to get up close and personal with the performers. I think the show shines when it does that. Not some big impersonal makeup-heavy group number where our characters are obscured. If I were trying to sell someone on this show, I'd definitely rather have them see this episode than the post-SB one. In fact, I did try to get someone into the show, and I was a little disappointed the post-SB turned out to be what it was.

Anyway... I've finally seen this episode and the Warblers doing Silly Love Songs was my favorite. I'll save it and maybe grab the iTunes full version. Again this show introduces me to known music I don't know that I actually like -- from the first performance. There was harmony going on at the end that was flat out beautiful. I've listened to it 10 times and counting...

Totally agree! Very herky-jerky! LOL Great episode! Every song (except for Tina's meltdown - WTF???) was great! I am NOT a Rachel/Leah Michelle fan but I really liked her cover of Firework. I also cannot watch Arty sing! His facial expressions annoy me!

Favorite lines all came from Santana!
"That's how we do it in Lima heights!"
"I've had mono so many times it's turned into stereo."

I loved all of it. It was just a fun episode through and through. Puck and Lauren are great together and Fat Bottomed Girls was probably the highlight.

Awesome ep! The only downside for me was the lame Gap/Blaine stuff. Not digging him at all and the whole Gap thing didn't work for me. And Tina's meltdown wasn't funny either.

Everyone else was great. Brittany was back to great one-liners, Santana was hot and nasty. Puck and Lauren were frigging awesome together. That storyline was great. Enjoyed most of the songs too, especially Fat Bottomed Girls, PYT and that Fireworks song at the end. I thought Lea Michelle was channeling Idina Menzel during that song, she looked so much like her at times!

Oh and props to Harry Shum Jr (Mike Chang) on the PYT bit. He is a crazy good dancer. They should really give him more numbers to do. He always impresses.

Gotta agree. A real good episode. I Liked Fat Bottom Girls and PYT. Fireworks was good too. Mike Change can really move. I'd like to see more of him dancing if possible. Same with Brittany.

Loved seeing the Cheerios out of their uniforms. They all looked great. Love me some Brittany. I wouldn't mind more of the candy stripper uniform from Santana.

To be honest, didn't really miss Jane Lynch all that much this episode. I like her and but I think they need to tone her down some.

I liked Blaine's song, as it's pretty catchy. I'm with you guys though, there's something off about the way he sings or dances or something. It bugs me too.

Re: Glee -- Silly Love Songs -- 02-08-11

Sue's character has been going off the rails for awhile now.

Blaine's movements don't bother me. It's Kurt's movements that I notice. I've noticed them being "off" several times. Blaine is just highly animated.

From what I can tell, they're trying to keep Glee about the singing, so I understand that they don't really showcase the dancing of Brittany and Mike.

I wish iTunes had full length videos as well as MP3's. I save the performances I like from the show, but they're usually only snippets. iTunes has the full version, but as audio only. I suspect they perform the whole routine and it gets edited for broadcast. I went back to Grilled Cheesus and saved I Want To Hold Your Hand by Kurt and I Look To You by Mercedes. Played them for a few people who like music and all were impressed.

I did think it was good that they gave Blaine a little vulnerability. Up until now, he's been a bit of a Mary Sue.

I got a good laugh when the Gap employee told Blaine (who's clearly played by an adult) that he was underaged.

I forgot about this exchange:

"Just yesterday you told me Mr. Shue needed a ten-step program!"

"What?!"

"You're addicted to vests."
