This show doesn't pass up a chance to shit on MMA, that fight was worthy

Really great episode, as usual.

I liked how they picked on MMA. I know some were worried about them incorporating that into the show, but they way in which they did it was great. It wasn't as though Lights was entering an actual match to earn money, which is sort of how the previews portrayed it, and I think that's why it worked. The opening kick to Lights was pretty funny.

It was funny to see that Johnny actually had some moves as well and got the upperhand on the bookie.

Enjoyed the conversation between Lights and Omar at the end as well.

This is the first episode we haven't seen anyone having sex in either, lol. I for sure thought we were going to see Johnny and the girl he hired to work at the gym at some point in the episode, but looks as though there isn't a mandatory one sex scene per episode in this show.

I caught the wife's accent slip several times in this one. It was kind of distracting.

Good episode otherwise. I'm not a big MMA fan, but that fight would have been over several times, not in Lights' favor.

Yeah the fight was a joke. The fight would have been over after that armbar in the beginning. Any box untrained in submissions would have tapped real quick or had elbow ripped to shreds. Not to mention Lights also managed to get out of being in full mount like it was nothing and a rear naked choke is not a windpipe choke like they made it seem.

I caught that too... VERY distracting IMO.

And yeah, the fight should have been over twice -- or more. That said, it wasn't overly stupid like I thought it would be. Did Lights kill the guy or knock him out. A punch to the throat could do either... but it didn't look like he was breathing at the end (but nobody seemed to care either).

Agree on all counts. Great show, good ep., but the MMA fight was pretty laughable. The way he flipped out of that arm-bar never, ever, ever happens because it's basically not possible. The scene with the wife and the "we're set for life"/"no it's all gone" was very well done.

I was pretty glad the wife found out about the money, I was worried they would drag that out for a while with Lights and his brother having to give even more absurd excuses.

I was also wondering if he killed the guy at the end of the fight - not sure if they left it intentionally vague so that storyline could be picked up later on or if I was just reading too much into that.

Is the Omar storyline over? I thought Lights bringing him back could have been an interesting story arc.

I'm pretty sure that guy is dead. A clear punch to the throat like that from a professional boxer is probably fatal.

I thought so too... but it all seemed so "matter of fact". I wouldn't think Lights is a guy who could easily live with killing someone --- although that guy would have just as easily killed him. Life or death, I'd be pretty shaken in an event like that. Armbar aside, no way Light's escapes that naked choke either.

The MMA fight was kind of a joke, but still a good episode. Good scene between Lights and his wife.

As dumb as the armbar "escape" was...Bas taking flush shots from the champ was equally stupid. Assuming those were 4 oz gloves...

I really like the show until any sort of fighting takes place.

at all the MMA critiquing. Makes it all the better when they made fun of it.

It is just dumb. The biggest misconception about the mma v boxing debate is that the number that loves both is a small group.
