1) They only filmed a Pilot, TNT just watched it and greenlit the show.
2) TNT has programming scheduled through the rest of this year until next Spring.
3) They have to cast more actors, scout locations in Dallas and most importantly hire a writing staff.
I assume they won't start production on the show until Fall at the soonest since it's not slated to air until next summer.

I wonder what role Sue Ellen will play. I can't believe she'd marry J.R. a third time, so if she's not his wife why does she need to be in the show? The woman playing Bobby's wife is also from Desperate Housewives (the narrator). I wonder if it's just coincidence that there are 3 actors from DH joining this show or if there's some kind of connection to the producers.
I read somewhere else that Steve Kanaly and Charlene Tilton are on board for the pilot. Let's hope Ray's hair is back to its familiar silver and not that brown shoe polish it was in one of the Dallas movies that aired after the show had finished. It looked ridiculous.

Thinking back to the last tv movie (assuming there is continuity), didn't she have a large share of Ewing Oil? IIRC, she and Bobby were co-owners and J.R. had the controlling interest in Westar Oil.

For anyone wondering, Jesse Metcalfe is playing Bobby and Pam's son.
Josh Henderson is playing JR's son John Ross.
Brenda Strong (Mary Alice on Desperate Housewives) is playing Bobby's new wife Ann. This probably won't affect her job on Housewives since she only does voice overs and can easily record them from anywhere.

I think you're right. I haven't seen those movies since they originialy aired, and quite honestly, I tried to forget them. They, like the later seasons of Dallas, just weren't very good. I hope (but doubt) the producers can recapture the magic of Dallas' early years. I thoroughly enjoyed this show up until Bobby "died." After that, it was all downhill from there.

I'm in for this show. Like I said earlier this show was always kind of a guilty pleasure and even though it had it's cheesy moments I enjoyed watching it. I watched this a ton back in the day on TNN with my parents late at night. I liked it so much that if I wasn't home I'd tape it to find out what happened next
. It's cool to see that we're getting not only Hagman back but some of the other originals as well. I do agree that looking back after the dream season things definitely got spotty but I continued to watch the episodes. Think I've seen most of the made-for-tv movies as well and watched the reunion special a while back.

But when Duffy quit the show in '85 Dallas lost its Romeo, and that left Juliet floundering. He came back a year later, of course, and for one more season Romeo and Juliet were reunited. Then Victoria Principal left for good, and once again the premise of the show was destroyed. After Pam's departure, it was all about the Ewing Brothers' adventures, and unfortunately, their adventures became more and more ridiculous as the years rolled on. I sure hope the new producers cut out all the cheese that plagued the show's final years and give us viewers a show with some credibility.

I just hope it doesn't go all CW 90210 on us...

As short as it was, that clip looks pretty good to me.

You'd need an f-ing hedge trimmer!
I can't believe TNT is already showing "advance previews" of a show that doesn't air for almost a YEAR. Isn't that a little much? I mean cool to know but I really only need maybe 2 weeks in advance. Not like there's a ton of programming competing for my attention to begin with.

He's been sporting that look for years. I was disappointed to see he didn't trim them for the reboot. It's kind of hard to take him seriously when his eyebrows look like that.
It's like he's trying to look evil all the time.

I think most of us (at least those of us who remember the original show) will tune in the first week. It'll have to be good to hold its audience though and it probably won't be.

Yup, according to this article Steve Kanaly (Ray) and Charlene Tilton (Lucy) will appear in the Pilot as guest stars.
