Big improvement for the second episode.

Louise: We can live without water, but not TV!

I watched the latest episode last night, and then I always put on Bob's Burgers to fall asleep to. Funny enough, I put on "Motor, She Boat" from season 10 which also referenced Giardia.

The Christmas episode this year was unusually sweet  and probably a classic for the series.

anyways, something something cutting onions.

Yeah, it was a nice episode. There was one bit, while Louise was waiting to go on and someone else read a really moving poem. Louise said to the next kid something like "Good luck out there, you'll have no problem following that up", and then just shook her head "no". Something about the way it was animated (on a show that doesn't go much for visual gags like that) that was just hilarious, I watched and re-watched it like 3 times in a row.

Anyone been watching this season? It's been inspired. This past week's episode, a zombie film directed by Louise that masquerades as a documentary directed by Tina was fantastic.

There was one a few weeks back where Zeke (still my favorite Wagstaff kid) was revealed to be a bully at his old school, and what's worse, he bullied a kid for lisping (since his current best friend Jimmy Jr also lisps, it was a subtle way of showing how guilty Zeke felt for his past).

And of course, everyone was raving about the Regular-Sized Rudy episode, which only featured the Belchers in a side story, the rest was about a little kid trying to cope with divorced parents and their new partners.

Yeah, still picking it up here and there, still a lot of fun and the Rudy episode was really good.

It's still a really well done show, and I still watch it weekly. Can't believe it's already season 14.

Re: Bob's Burgers (FOX) -- Series Thread

One of the things I like is that despite the kids not aging like in most animated programs, they still maintain continuity from past episodes. The Simpsons rarely did this, with maybe the exception of that Aztec statue that Mr. Burns gave them sometimes still showing up in the basement.

The Bob's Burgers zombie episode had a few callbacks, like Louise with the archery set that she wanted when the family got that $100 gift card last season. And of course Tina's sexual attraction to zombies, especially when Jimmy Jr. turned. Has Louise's disdain for mustard come up before?

Never really watched much of this show until recently. Have to say it’s pretty great. I’m up to season three at the moment. It’s becoming one of my new binge shows.

Re: Bob's Burgers (FOX) -- Series Thread

I actually thought it got a little middling after 4 or 5 seasons, to the point a lot of episodes would pile up on my DVR and I'd have to binge to clear them, usually half-assed watching them and looking at my phone most of the time.

The last few seasons have been fire though, I can't believe the resurgence of it. I don't miss an episode now, and there's still episodes piling up my DVR, but now it's because they're so brilliant I don't want to erase them.

We discovered it during the worst of the pandemic and we tore through the backlog. It’s had some ups and downs but it’s recently had some really fun ones and then there’s that Xmas episode.

I was looking at Nielsen streaming charts and noticed this seems to regularly be Hulu's most streamed show as of late and is regularly their only show in the top 10. There any reason for a recent Bob's Burgers viewing surge that I'm missing?

Hopefully it's not MAGA watching it to back the voice actor who was just found guilty for Jan 6th. But that's all I can think of other than just being a good show with little to nothing new being on.

Re: Bob's Burgers (FOX) -- Series Thread

Yeah that might be a little bit of a stretch, plus these ratings are from just before that became news again.

I still stream it regularly because it's one of my favorite background noise shows. I was curious if it went viral again for some reason, but it's also just a little bit above Family Guy so it may just be regular viewing habits.

Edit: The June 10th - 16th chart, for the hell of it.

Same. I throw on a couple episodes of this, FG, or Archer almost every night to help wind down from the day.

There's been a few articles about the uptick in writing this year (this one, for example). A lot of praise was heaped upon the "Amazing Rudy" episode from early in the season, I imagine that's had a lot to do with it.

Re: Bob's Burgers (FOX) -- Series Thread

That Rudy episode was really good.

We also hadn’t watched any episodes in a while and last night we put it on and it was the zombie movie one that was really well made.

The people who like Bob’s Burgers REALLY like it.* My girlfriend and her kids have it streaming almost constantly at their place.

*I also really like it.

I was out the other day wearing a Bob's Burgers tshirt and had two separate people, both women and at least as old as me (50) talking about how much they love the show.

Every time I go to WonderCon, the Bob’s Burgers panel hits capacity. I made it into the one which was also a promotion for the movie and we all lost our minds when they surprised us with the first 10 minutes.

I haven't been able to get a Comic Con badge for a while, but when I did go, I'd spend almost all of Friday at the Hilton bayfront. Show up in the morning before lines get out of control (at 10AM it was pretty much walk right in) grab a seat and get comfortable. I'd pack a lunch and everything. All panels in that room that day are animated shows. You'd get Adult Swim, Robot Chicken, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Venture Bros. The last two panels of the day were always Archer, and Bob's Burgers, back to back. It was worth the day long single room campout.

Inga may be my new favorite character, toppling Zeke.

At the very least, she makes Fischoeder-centered episodes (usually my least favorite) so much more watchable now.

I like Fischoeder centered episodes mostly because I love Kevin Kline. He does a great job voicing Fischoeder.

Paff 07-09-25 05:17 PM

Re: Bob's Burgers (FOX) -- Series Thread

Kline is great, no argument there, but the character himself is just so insufferable and entitled, and his relatives are even worse. Obviously he's a villain character, but it's like Mr. Burns without any of the foibles (ex. Burns is old, weak, and feeble which is frequently mined for laughs).
And his nephew is 10x worse, which is what makes me dislike Fischoeder episodes so much. It's also why I didn't much care for the movie, as it's very Fischoeder-centered.

But Inga is great. In her first appearance, she kept saying "poof!" as she was applying makeup to Fischoeder and it was hilarious. Especially because he was talking to Bob at the time and I was paying attention to the conversation. Only after rewinding and watching it again did I notice all the little "poof!" she was saying.
