Great episode. Really digging Dexter's psychoticness/vulnerability. Peter Weller plays a perfect scumbag and hopefully we'll see the downfall of Laguerta this season.

Yeah really intense episode, definitely the strongest one of the season so far. I've been really enjoying Jonny Lee Miller as the self help guru. I love how he gives Dexter little bits and pieces of information about his personal life, I'm hoping he turns out to be a formidable adversary for Dexter. The inner monologue with him outside of the hotel with the luggage cracked me up.

Going to be a good rest of the season.

And we have to remember that she was a cop a least a couple years before the show started too.
Yeah, but those couple years before the show started she was doing prostitution stings. Shooting one perp gives her a higher body count than 99% of cops.

Best episode of the season so far. I was expecting Cole to smash thru the guest door, not the front door. That would at least make the killing more believeable that no one noticed the broken door outside. Also, wouldn't Chase's security team see the door next to Cole's room is smashed and they would at least check it out since Cole is missing. I guess this is just something you have to ignore.

I hope Laguerta get murder by the other brother that got away.

The writers have really screwed up Laguerta's character. What she did seemed out of character.

And I was thinking the same thing about the broken door. Killing in the same room just doesnt make sense..How was the room rented? Will it not raise a red flag when the security guy goes missing and there is a broken door on the next room with the room being charged to Dexter?

I thought he did break through the side door. She was leaning against the main door and he came flying through the side door.

Either way, I would think a credit card would have been required to rent the place.

I think they are finally getting her back into character. This is the same woman who slept with a department rival's fiancee in order to undercut her in the office. And that wasn't even to protect her career, but just to help advance it.

Yeah I need to rewatch it but I'm pretty sure that Cole busted through a door that was adjoining to the room and not the main door. Either way it would raise some suspicions but who's to say it won't be brought into play later?

*Edit- I just watched the part again he broke in through a side door so it was an adjoining room so it wouldn't be as noticeable until someone from the hotel saw it when they were cleaning the room or whatever.

I was going to say the same thing. That's the way she was for the first few seasons anyway.

Yes, it was the side door. But the thing is, it will be obvious that it was broken through from Cole's side to Dexter's side, and it probably won't be noticed until well after Dexter left. So Dexter can claim ignorance of the whole thing. It looks suspicious, yes. But we don't know if Dexter used his real name (or even Lumen's name) when renting the room, so there's that.

Between the door and the pictures at the end, there's a lot of confusion about this week's episode.

Did anyone notice the music during the Dexter/Lumen scenes near the end? Very nicely done.

I remember when Dexter was careful and methodical, now he's leaving trails and witnesses tying him to his victims.
Actually, and I can't confirm this right now, earlier in the episode when Dexter snuck in the room while Cole was having sex, it looked like there were two doors to get into the room. So, Cole probably opened the door on his side, and slammed through Dexter's. If Dexter closed the door in Cole's room, no one would know a thing.

That's the way I took it. He only broke through the door on Dexter's room.

Re: Dexter -- "Take It" -- 11/14/10

What was Cole saying to Dexter on the table after he took the gag out of his mouth?

Why do I have the feeling Lumen is going to die at the hands of Jordan before he dies himself?

I have to agree, the season is now picking up some steam.

I loved the scene where Angel is telling Deb he is backing her up. I found it very moving.

Now it's a season. They could have gotten here in 4-5 episodes. Too much filler this time around for sure. And I thought last season was pretty great from beginning to end.

Still better than 99% of TV ever.

Dexter wanted the names of the others involved and he responded "Huey, Dewey, and Louie."

The door thing makes sense, dexter could pay the hotel to fix the door, and Cole's people would never have a clue since the door is on the other room..

The pictures, the last couple of pics sure looked as if on the ocean, if you look carefully, the picture numbers were 36...
The pics number 1,2... were definately of them loading the boat, the lst couple of pics (36 onwards) looked like Dexter and Lumen wer having a conversation, like after they dumped the body.

Yep, I saw that. He had taken photos of what they were doing from start to finish.

I thought it was a great episode. I also liked how Deb didn't really feel anything about having killed the guy. Makes me wonder if sometime before the final episode of the show if Dexter, feeling that Deb might understand him better, will tell her that he is the real Bay Harbor Butcher not Doakes.

Maybe he just had pictures of them coming and going. I don't see it being very possible to follow them in a boat, at night, far enough away to avoid detection, but still close enough to be able to get any kind of clear photo. He's on the ocean in the dark, with a bigass telephoto lens, it's just going to be a blurry mess unless the water was just absolute flat calm.

He had pics of them loading the suitcases on board to when they were dropping the bags into the water.

Re: Dexter -- "Take It" -- 11/14/10

I watched the final scene again, and it wasn't terribly clear what photos he had.

As we saw Dex and Lu dropping the bags of Cole into the water, the scene faded into the camera image, and then it looked it he was cycling through photos of them "handling" the bags. Could mean he only got photos of them loading the boat, and the fade was just an artistic flourish. I don't think there's any way he could take a photo from that angle while they were at sea anyway, unless he was flying above them.

After the "Bay Harbor Butcher" incident, I would think that Dexter would take his packages quite far out to sea to dump, far enough out that a telephoto lens wouldn't be useful. I also don't think we saw any indication that Liddy took a boat out following them

Re: Dexter -- "Take It" -- 11/14/10

Lovin' it - Lumen brought some new life into the show that I didn't even feel with Trinity last season... I've always been on the fence about Dexter - I keep watching, but I've never really felt like it was that good of a show - but Dexter's new life without Rita and Lumen's character are absolutely invigorating! And the last 10 minutes of this episode was the most intense segment I've seen on tv in years. Early in the season, I was actually rooting for Quinn to catch Dexter, now I'm rooting for Dexter and Lumen - the characters are finally very interesting to me!

Of course the Laguerta character and story line... bleh, at least she's finally clearly a villian, and hopefully the other brother will finish her off!
