Re: Conan Picks Networks and it's....TBS
I don't have HBO Max, so I won't watch this show. And I don't have cable, so I don't watch his TBS show. But I do listen to his podcast, which is both interesting and hilarious.
Like the article says, he's been on TV for close to 30 years, so he has to be ready to move on from the talk show format and the rules, but he still wants to work and create.
So good for him. He's a brilliant comic mind. He wrote "Marge vs the Monorail" for chrissakes!

I love Conan but I bailed on him a few years into TBS run. I would absolutely watch a weekly show with him on HBO Max, though.

I think this is a good move, granted HBO Max stays solvent. I love Conan but haven't watched his show in ages.

Sucks
I am a fan but his best work was on NBC and could not match it once he left.
Maybe he should have brought the writers and staff from that era over to TBS since most of the time it is on repeats on TBS.
I think he might still do the travel shows?

Same. His TBS show has gradually been declining for a while now. He’s changed the format 3 or 4 times in the last few years. I also get the sense that Conan is getting tired of doing it. He just seems worn out now. I think a weekly show with fewer restrictions could re-energize him. I’ll watch his HBO Max show.

re: Conan O'Brien - Shows, Projects, and News
I've always enjoyed Conan but Late Night is a dead format at this point. The fact that we live in a DVR age yet these shows are still beholden to the 11:30 or 12:30 timeslot boggles my mind. Meaning you can get away with more stuff at 12:30 than 11:30.
I feel bad for Conan because I think he saw the writing on the wall about Late Night years ago, and really doesn't know what to do at this point.
If anyone is a fan of Tim Dillon's comedy, he pretty much sums up why Late Night sucks today.

I watched four minutes and had to stop because everything he was saying was stupid.
1) I don't know who the fuck Tim Dillon is. Seriously, this post by mcnabb is the first time I have ever heard of him.
2) #1 is important because he's talking about how he doesn't want to "play the game" of doing panel on a talk show and engage in a conversation about nothing.
Hey, duh, you've never been asked to be on Fallon or Kimmel or anything but David Spade's show. So take you high and mighty "principles" and shove them up your fat ass.
3) He says to imagine you have a hard life working in a factory and you're supposed to be entertained by watching Jimmy Fallon play games and sing.
Yeah, duh (again), that's the whole fucking point of escapist entertainment.
Watching people sing, or do something fun, or talk about some vacuous subject. For many people, that is exactly what they want to do to relax before going to bed. Or they want to watch Colbert make jokes about what a total POS Trump is for 10 minutes to relieve their daily anxiety.
And somehow this dumbshit hasn't figured out that people LOVE hearing people talk about doing interesting things like taking trips to Italy. Americans are fascinated by wealth and fame, and they eat up glimpses of celebrity life like hogs at a trough.

He is just jealous since Fallon has more money and better looking than him.
I bet Colbert's ratings will go down now since he had nothing to rely on except Trump bashing and now he will have to try to be funny outside of politics which will be hard to do.

I can’t believe Conan has been on TBS for 11 years! Seems like it’s just been a couple of years since the Tonight Show mess.
I didn’t realize he was moving to HBOmax but I hope he reinvents himself a little with the freedom he’ll have. I love Conan but I think his TBS show(s) kind of petered out over the last few years. I haven’t really kept track of his show lately.

When I first heard this news I was bummed out because it was another nail in the coffin of late night. Then I realized I haven’t watched late night tv consistently since Letterman retired.

I gave up on his TBS show a a few years ago. I am excited to see what he can do with an HBO Max show.

I can't imagine what he could do on HBO Max that he couldn't do on TBS, besides nudity. TBS let him get away with pretty much anything.

The only difference from the show in terms of what he's "allowed" to do on his podcast seems to be non-bleeped swearing and maybe a few stories with more sordid details.
Conan has ALWAYS been my favorite. We also don't have cable. I watch and enjoy YouTube clips and the podcast. Looks like yet another reason to really think about HBO Max, finally...

These last few weeks have been excellent, him smoking weed with Seth Rogen was funny, less for him doing a baby hit and more for Andy toking it as the pro he is.

He sold his podcast business to SIrius XM and will produce content for them
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bu...xm-1235152377/
Former NBC and TBS late night host Conan O’Brien has sold his podcast and digital media business, Team Coco, to satellite radio giant SiriusXM.
The deal will see O’Brien’s popular interview podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, as well as Team Coco’s 10 other podcasts (which include a behind-the-scenes look at his late night shows called Inside Conan and a Parks and Recreation series hosted by Rob Lowe and Alan Yang called Parks and Recollection), join the SiriusXM podcast network.
As with other podcast deals, the shows will continue to be distributed on other popular podcasting platforms.
O’Brien, who signed a five-year talent deal with SiriusXM as part of the $150 million acquisition (valuation via the WSJ, which first reported the deal), will also produce a comedy channel for SiriusXM’s flagship radio service. The deal also includes some video content from his podcasts and late night show, as well as live events and merchandise. Team Coco’s staff will join SiriusXM as well.
