Now that's what I'm talking about! So much better than the first episode. Really good stuff, the characters weren't all acting like idiots, and there were some real tense moments.
I thought the opening sex scene was a bit pointless though. I think it would have been far more effective to just assume she was dead and then find her in a semi-normal relationship with his former partner in the season finale.
I like the Asian guy. He has a good head on his shoulders. Everyone wanting to go down there with him was a really stupid plan and I'm glad he spoke up. That was some fancy driving too, lol. I thought he was going to stall out or crash into a building and be stranded.
I'll forgive some of the cop's stupid behavior in the first episode and chalk it up to him still getting acclimated to the new world he woke up in. In this episode he seemed a lot smarter and more on the ball.
That scene where they were chopping up the corpse was brutal; every time I thought they were done, they just kept going. It almost seemed like overkill, but whatever. I guess they were trying to show that what they were doing really was grotesque and not to be taken lightly.
I sort of get that they didn't want to leave the guy up there to die because there's strength in numbers and they don't want to lose their humanity, but that guy seems like way more trouble than he's worth. I mean, he's unnecessarily causing a commotion and bringing more zombies to their location. As if that weren't bad enough, when someone tells him to stop he lets loose on a racist tirade and single-handedly fights off the entire group and sticks the gun in the guy's mouth and seems to seriously be contemplating killing him. Is that really someone you want with your group? They should have just left him the hacksaw and called it a day. That way he wasn't their problem anymore and he could try to escape himself, since obviously he didn't like the group from the start.

I liked the premiere and I liked episode 2. I've read the comics up through volume 12 so I know what is going on but I wish I didn't because I'm having a lot of fun watching it.

I enjoyed this episode a bit more, but still find it average to mediocre overall. The cinematography and zombie effects are well done, but the story lines aren't original or all that interesting to me. I'll give it another week or two.

Ok I have to ask. Is anyone else having to suffer through poor picture quality on this show ?
The commercials look better ! I am getting all sorts of noise and this is on both episodes and even watched later broadcasts.
I know it isn't my TV or DVR because other channels are fine and other shows ON AMC look fine.
It isn't bad enough to where I dont want to watch but it is a bit annoying.
Other than that. I am loving the show and I haven't looked at IMDB but really hoping we get more Lennie James !

The comics took their time really getting going, its probably worth sticking around for even if you just set your DVR for it.

I noticed it last week as well and I too thought that was what they were going for but or it was just the broadcast itself. But if they are going for that look, it looks like crap and a bad idea. Sad that a commercial about woodchucks chucking wood looks better than the show your trying to watch

I loved this episode even better than the premiere.
That seen where they butchered the body was brutal. They're not holding back on the gore.
The new characters seem more interesting so far than the ones at the RV. I doubt that's the last we'll see of Michael Rooker.

I noticed this tonight. It was pretty obvious because I don't remember the same quality/style last week. I first thought that was the style they wanted for this episode, but some scenes were pretty bad, like they compressed the video too much, but yeah, the commercials looked fine.

Overall liked the build on the previous episode and it feels like it's moving along nicely in terms of character development and pacing. Can't wait to see how things change as they get out of Atlanta.

A better title for this show would be the Walking Cliche. It's certainly a fun, well-made show, but the story, characters and writing are all shit. Is there even an end-goal as far the TV series is concerned? I know there really isn't one for the comic, but a TV series need to have a better game-plan.

Because they kill the living in Justified and science fiction zombie deaths in The Walking Dead aren't mirroring reality? I don't remember any human deaths yet in this series. Everything has been zombies or animals.

I enjoyed episode 2 just as much as the Pilot. There was a good amount of supense and tension and again the cinematography, set design and zombie makeup is outstanding.
There was some good character development, especially with Rick interacting with the additional survivors. It was cool seeing Laurie Holden again. I know she's a regular on this, but the last thing I recall seeing her in was The Shield 3 years ago, but she worked with Darabont on The Mist, so it doesn't surprise me she would end up in this show. I also liked the Asian guy Glenn.
Why does it not surprise that Michael Rooker would end up playing the white trash racist? I definitely think we'll be seeing him again as he has a major axe to grind with T-Dog for abandoning him and with Rick.
Personally for me, I don't mind a good sex scene when it works story-wise. But, that opening sex scene with Lori and Shane felt so forced and un-sexy. Now I'm beginning to think that maybe Shane and Lori's relationship already existed before the outbreak. Rick already mentioned in his conversation with Shane in the Pilot that he and Lori were having problems.
Loved the scene where they butchered the zombie and then Glenn getting grossed out was awesome...
I guess that explains the episode title.
Overall, I enjoyed Darabont's script and thought Michelle Maxwell MacLaren did a solid job directing.
It looks like the next episode is directed by Gwneth Horder Payton, who worked on Sons of Anarchy and The Shield.

Really liked this episode and can't wait for the finale to come to see how far they plan on developing their world i.e. still local, start building a new town/society.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really look forward to four more weeks of people telling us how much the show sucks.
Tonights zombie survival tip: Don't be an asshole.
Why do I get the feeling we'll be seeing Mr Redneck again?

Who are half these people? I read the comics awhile ago but why the hell are they introducing all of these characters who weren't even in the comic? The comic already has an absurdly large cast. I certainly don't remember the redneck or the mexican dude, but maybe I've just forgotten about them...in which case, spoiler alert;
.
