Having just watched the 2-hour time filler, here are my thoughts:

1) Has Jan Hooks aged terribly or what?! I never thought that Nora Dunn would ever surpass her in the hotness dept....Cheri Oteri's not looking bad either.

2) But Jan Hooks' acting in that last skit they showed - one from the early Alec Baldwin years where he orders pie in that redneck diner - was just awesome! All of the cast members from that era were both great comedians AND actors...That's what separates old era from current era so clearly.

Loved it. I thought the first bit was what the whole thing was going to be so I panicked, but then it all made sense when they started showing skits.

1. Ana whatsherface got implants didn't she?
2. Jan Hooks most aged
3. Maya...still HOT and should really be on SNL again
4. Lorraine Newman
5. I had forgot that "Old Christine" was even on SNL.
6. Nora Dunn looked really good. But I've liked her for some time now.
7. Debby Downer where they all broke up is STILL fuckin' hilarious.

everytime i want to see the full sketch of "Rock of Love" where Amy Poehler just knocks it out of the park, i just see a bit. i tried Huluing and got nothing for this ep and last night i taped it and simply fast forwarded to that part, only to get a minute of it, f-in women

Would loved to have seen Jane Curtain appear. Other than that, it was an enjoyable 2 hours.

The show did serve to emphasize the difference in quality from the older shows to current ones. For me, Wiig's one note characters felt hollow compared to Radner's Baba Wawa and Roseann Roseannadanna, among others.

And, IMO, Alec Baldwin has aged just as badly as Jan Hooks.

Seems that in the past three or four years, SNL is hiring women who are more physically attractive than in previous decades. Almost like instead of casting based on comic ability, they get aspiring actresses and have them do comedy.

Missed The Event.

Here are my rankings:

1. Gilda/Jane Curtain (Gilda was one of the funniest female comics)

2. Cheri Oteri/Molly Shannon/Ana Gasteyer (the best overall talent of women SNL ever had at once)

3. Nora Dunn/Jan Hooks/Victoria Jackson (solid and consistent, but I am trying to think if they had any memorable characters?)

4. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (she was really funny, but I think she was only on for maybe 2 years? And totally overshadowed by Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo as they were in every skit back then.)

5. Tina Fey/ Amy Poehler (2 of the most overrated talents on SNL, as they get way too much respect for some reason?)

Great two hours. I laughed A LOT! But my oh my did they shove Kristen Wiig down our throats. I like her, but enough already. There were far too many clips with the other women they could have and should have shown. And where the hell were Ellen Cleghorne and Melanie Hutsell? At LEAST show a clip of theirs. I loved both of them on "SNL".

Re: Jan Hooks, I commented on her in "30 Rock" threads on her appearances there. It's painful to watch her these days. WHAT happened!?? She looks absolutely awful. She was so damn cute back in the day.

Although, I might even argue that your 1 and 2 rankings could be flip-flopped, considering the dead-weight that Laraine Newman was to Gilda & Jane Curtin. Cheri, Molly, and Ana were all equally good.

One of my all-time favorites. I still get a kick out of Horatio Sanz struggling to keep from laughing out loud so hard that he's crying ...

One I keep trying to find online from that same episode is the Harry Potter sketch. That was spot-on as well ...

She is in her 50s, some people just don't age well. I know she and Phil Hartman were close, and she stopped doing a lot of live action stuff after he died. Maybe it just hit her really hard.

Disagree they along with Wiig had some of the annoying characters like the "Simmer down now" and "I love it! I love it!" where shannon jumps on the couch and the catholic school girl. I hated those years.

I will take Fey, Rudolph, Dratch, and Poehler over them any day.


The show was a disappointment since most of the sketches you can find on the best of SNL dvds and were repeated on other best of specials and there was no new "old" gems.

I found some moments funny (like the previously mentioned Lindsay Lohan sketch), but I was hoping for way more old skits, like with Jane Curtain and Gilda Radner. They were SORELY underrepresented. But still had a few chuckles out of it.

I want to fuck Tina Fey til my dick falls off. Jane Curtain was hot back in the day too. Those are my thoughts on the women of SNL
