American Restoration -sleeveless guy from Pawn Stars gets spinoff

If you watch Pawn Stars you should know who the sleeveless guy is.

So did anyone catch this? I came across it earlier but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Hopefully he'll be restoring some interesting stuff.

Yes they are. I like all of these shows and this one is no exception. These guys do great work. I've been wanting a vintage fridge and the one they restored looked great.

The title sounded interesting to me, but after I watched a few minutes of it - it smelled like Pawn Stars. Now I know why.

Tonight's episodes were completely devoid of restoration work. All we saw was the stuff in its wretched state and then the finished product. Nothing in between at all.

This is so disappointing. Of all the shows with potential this was it.

This was one of my favorite "reality" shows. Sad to see the state it is in now.

Well the show is being relaunched with a whole new style. Rick and his crew appear to be gone. they are now highlighting multiple other restoration crews from around the country. Previews are running on History and the new show starts on Friday, 1/1/16.

Re: American Restoration -sleeveless guy from Pawn Stars gets spinoff

I liked this show originally when it focused on the restorations but History definitely ruined it. They tried too hard to make it about wacky antics of the guys around the shop and fitting in Rick's wife for eye candy purposes. Basically the same as what happened with Pawn Stars (although the most recent season has seemingly less focus on stupid scripted crap).

The best History Channel show is American Pickers in my opinion. Obviously it's staged but they've never really made the show about stupid antics of the cast and mostly focus on the picks and items. Plus Mike and Frank are seemingly likeable enough.

Not sure why shows like this feel the need to focus on the people doing stupid things. Are the viewers suppose to care?

My guess is that History thinks they'll attract viewers who want to see the latest antics of Chumlee or whoever that may not otherwise watch the show.

Watching it now. Not a bad show. They have five total restoration companies from around the country and use 3 of them in a one hour episode. The guy in North Carolina who specializes in motorcycles is especially interesting and he spent the whole time explaining things while working. And since the cast is new, no drama or hamming it up for the camera. For now.

I'll say this. Rebecca from the book store needs her own show.

Cant stand Pawn Stars anymore and have not seen this one yet as I rarely watch this channel anymore. I dont know how I missed it over the past 8 or so years as I used to watch regularly and I like the restoration guy from this show...

Hell yes! Rebecca is cute as a damn button!

Put me in the "liked the first couple seasons, when the show emphasized actual restoration work, but gave up when it became nothing but drama" group. I'm willing to give this another shot, but only OnDemand or DVR'd. I don't care enough to watch it live and sit through commercials.

Re: American Restoration -sleeveless guy from Pawn Stars gets spinoff

I stopped watching Pawn Stars because I loathe Chumlee. And with The Old Man gone, something will be missing. But I may give it a shot.

I really hope Restoration focuses on the actual work and no scripted antics of that crank Kowboy and Bretley acting like a special needs child.

Re: American Restoration -sleeveless guy from Pawn Stars gets spinoff

The show was pretty good in the first couple seasons or so. After they added Rick’s wife in seemingly just for some eye candy and started doing more scripted/comedy bits the show went downhill. Seems like a common trend with History Channel shows.

I think the only exception is American Pickers, which I still find to be a pretty quality show. I’m sure aspects of it are scripted but it plays pretty well. Obviously they don’t show everyone they try to approach and parts are edited, but it doesn’t feel forced with comedy bits or whatever other scripted bits.
