He had a distinguished career on Broadway, winning a Tony award playing the title character in Fiorello!, one of only 8 musicals to ever win the Pulitzer Prize.

Had many a "Happy Days" watching him. He was a great father on TV, if I could only be like him.

He was 46 when "Happy Days" 1st come out in Sept 1974.

That sucks. 83 isn't all that old.

I loved Happy Days as a kid/teen, and I still enjoy the show today. Tom Bosley was a big part of that. He was absolutely perfectly cast as Howard Cunningham, and he did a great job with the role.

He also had a funny guest role on That 70's Show not too long ago.

He will be missed.

Shocked he was only 83. Creepy he just died as a recent SModcast featured an extended bit where Smith and Mosier were joking about Bosley still being alive.

He's from Chicago. I've already seen more than 1 bio point out that he grew up wanting to play for the Cubs. I won't hold that against him.

Kevin Smith killed Tom Bosley?

I think it's a bit interesting that people see 83 as too young and Billingsley's 94 as a good age. It doesn't seem like that big a difference for there to be such great consensus about it.

He always seemed like a nice guy and will be missed. Since people have taken the good ones, I hope he enjoys the big hardware store in the sky.

this was on kev's twitter
America's Dad dies: g'bye & thanks, Tom Bosley (pre-eulogized @ #SModcast 133's 30min mark: http://smodcast.com/main ) #BigBucketOfBosleyWin
and as you'd probably assume with anything kevin smith related, contains strong language.

Re: 'Happy Days' Actor Tom Bosley Dies at 83

I was driving home yesterday and knew right away someone died from the Happy Days cast when they started off the announcement with the theme from Happy Days. What a sad day....he will always be Mr. C in my mind. I know he did alot of commercials later in his career and also had his picture attached to a mail order company but I am sure his greatest achievement in his mind was the Happy Days series.

I saw him not too long ago in a traveling Broadway series of On Golden Pond that came to town. Of course he played Norman and did a good job. He still came across as too nice for that role though. I think that was just how he was.

As a little kid before I even knew who he was, I heard him all the time in David the Gnome....years later I'd get to know him well in Happy Days. Sad news.

I remember him playing the beleaguered dad on the animated series "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home".
And speaking of animation, he provided the voice of an animated Howard Cunningham on an episode of Family Guy. Fonzie hit him in the crotch so Howard could overcome his erectile dysfunction. Mrs C: "Thank you Arthur."
