Re: Boardwalk Empire -- "Nights in Ballygran" -- 10/17/10

I've enjoyed every episode so far, and this latest one seems to be kicking off some interesting plot threads (the Feds finally taking some real action, Jimmy most likely seeking revenge, Nucky and Margaret). There aren't constant shoot-outs or anything, but plenty of stuff is happening plot-wise, and I find many of the characters engaging and interesting to watch.

Those are some of the best parts.

I have watched every episode so far, but I stilll don't know what I think of this show. It looks like the plot is really going to pick up next week, so I'm sticking with it.

I'm enjoying Shannon's G-Man. Particularily when he slugged that Irishman at the start of the raid. Fuckin' guy is crazy. Nucky is looking at him like he doesn't know what to make of him. As a result from being nuts over not knowing what to make of him, he finds Margaret.

I'm also enjoying Nucky's brother, Eli. This character could turn out to be the most complex character on the show, in the long run. They're giving him a lot of depth.

I just watched this episode and still have one more to go before I'm caught up, but I'm having a hard time getting enthusiastic about it. They've successfully introduced a bunch of characters, now it seems like they haven't been given anything to do. The show looks great, the acting is solid, but there's not enough story. A lot of it seems pointless. Maybe something will happen to tie it all together soon. I saw the

coming a mile away, too.
