This is episode 13. 9 times out of 10, cable networks only produce 13 episodes for their original shows because of cost. AMC doesn't make the kind of ad revenue to afford 20+ episodes and I'm sure Matthew Weiner designed this series to be only 13 episodes per season. The rare exceptions are USA which produces 16-18 episodes for their shows (2nd season and beyond) and TNT with 15 for 2nd season hit shows.

I don't mind 13 episode seasons. The quality of shows seems to be greater in these type of seasons. With that said, what a great season of Mad Men this has been.

Can't wait for tonight!

Season flew by.

Anybody know when this season comes out on DVD? I'm asking for all the season sets on Blu Ray for x-mas since DirecTV has denied HD for AMC.

Season 4 is up for pre-order on Amazon, but there is no release date yet.

If this helps:
Season 1-2 were released in July of the following year after it aired.
Season 3 was released in March of the following year.

Season 4 will probably be released anywhere from March-July of 2011 judging by that timeframe. It depends on when AMC decides to premiere season 5.

That was wrong on so many different levels. Don just made a huge mistake. Perhaps he'll see the light before they visit the minister. I'm glad that we got to see that phone call before the season's curtain fell. Joan keeping Roger's baby was pretty cliche if you ask me.

Very interesting. I think Betty will be "the other girl" next season.

Really? That was the season finale? Meh. Don's loins got the best of him once again. Mr. Francis might have to lose Betty to regain his own sense of serenity. Couldn't believe they addressed Megan's teeth. Either Jessica Pare lost a bunch of weight or got boob reduction surgery.

Meh. Just one big "meh".

Otherwise a stellar season, though.

"So did you get cancer?"

The "WTF?" look on Don's face after the kids spilled the milkshake and Megan was so calm about it, when Betty would have flipped out and gone off on the kids, was priceless

Loved Joan and Peggy gossiping about it right after they find out.

Love how Layne was the first to congratulate Don in the office, and was truly happy for him....after their night on the town they grew closer, and Layne himself is also getting out of a marriage, with a new girlfriend.

Great moment when Don told his kids that Dick was a nickname he uses sometimes.

Betty continues to go off the deep end. When Glen shuts you up in an argument, you know you're doing pretty bad. And firing Carla...big mistake.

Yeah. Pretty disappointing finale. I honestly thought that the proposal was a dream sequence. It took me a while to realize that was really where the show was going.
Liked the Peggy/Joan scene after the announcement. Usually they're pretty contentious with each other. This was a nice change.
That diner scene with the milkshake -- that wasn't the Pulp Fiction diner was it? It sorta looked like it.

Re: Mad Men -- Season Finale -- "Tomorrowland" -- 10/17/10

Absolutely loved the finale. And I've preferred the agency focused episode more than the personal episodes.

First off, Roger's "Who the hell's that?" line after Don's announcement was my highlight!

I don't mind that Joan is keeping the baby, it was a nice little surprise.

Kudos to the writers for writing characters EXACTLY how they should be. Sure Don is a saavy ad man, but he is just as despicable and ignorent as everyone else, and the proposing to the secretary proves it. He is the new Tony Soprano, you can't agree with his actions, but you can't help but watch the train wreck.

And speaking of train wrecks, I love that the writers this season were not afraid to show how much of a miserable bitch Betty Draper really is. There is nothing redeeming about her, even when she has her nice moments (with Don) you know that she is still a horrible woman deep down inside. In a time when women are usually shown as victims on TV, it's nice to see a show break the social norms.

I think I want to go back and watch some season one episodes, just to see how much Peggy has progressed. One of my favorite characters on television.

Bring on Season 5!

So did I.

The break-up call with Faye was kind of funny since she's the one who told him at the start of the season that he'd be married again within a year.

Re: Mad Men -- Season Finale -- "Tomorrowland" -- 10/17/10

Lots of things to hate in this episode, and lots of things to like (for me personally).

I have an uber-crush on Megan ever since Roger's new wife went to hiding. I like seeing her on screen for selfish reasons. And I thought it was hilarious when she poked fun at herself for her teeth. She's gorgeous, teeth and all.

I guess I have to wait a year to find out why signing a panty hose account is so exciting...why Cosgrove was so reluctant to go after new business...why Peggy was almost insolent that Don got engaged...where the hell did Freddy go?...when Don will get some light in his apartment...etc etc etc. So many unanswered questions that I wonder if they will all get answered.

The moment with Betty and Don in the kitchen rang true. It's so funny how after a relationship is really over that you are able to completely let down you guard with an ex. It's really hard to explain what that experience is like, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in how surreal and comforting that experience is.

They didn't say much, but the acting was amazing in how it made that moment.

I see a comeback of rage from Dr. Faye. I also have the hots for her, so I hope she comes back next season with a vengeance. Hopefully in her underwear.

I hated the dismissal of Faye, I hate how Betty is just getting her ass kicked, and I hate how the maid was treated. That seemed like a shock just for the sake of shock. I would find it hard to believe that even the coldest and angriest mother would not let her go so easily.

Re: Mad Men -- Season Finale -- "Tomorrowland" -- 10/17/10

I went back to some season 2 episodes tonight after the finale, because i was sure he said almost the same thing to Anna when he was talking about Betty during their last christmas as he did to Peggy about Megan...and it made me wonder if she had the same reaction Peggy did after...I was wrong, but it was still creepy, how similar those two events were. I really hate Don's happy face, his smile is too big and he looks really vulnerable...I loved the observation by Joan "he was smiling like he is the first person to ever marry his secretary."

I feel bad for Faye.

Pretty much because I'm going through a similar situation right now, it's completely ridiculous and makes you feel terrible.
