Wife watched from the Clark/Clark meeting through the rest of the episode with me, and said "When did this show get so good?" I told her she really needs to watch the rest of the season with me.
Loved the helicopter shoutout to the original Superman movie.

I don't know for sure, but this episode may be in my Top 10 favorites when all will be said and done. Loved all the callbacks to earlier seasons, including the re-use of the Lifehouse song from Season 1. It's nice to see the showrunners push the reset button on Clark, and not make it feel cheap or unearned.

And I expected this episode to be corny, but I was really surprised at how well it played.

Surprised no one mentioned Clark flying at the end albeit very subtly, but flying is flying and not his usual jumping and falling.

I didn't notice it either because I was trying to read the year, which was cut off since I don't have a widescreen TV - All I saw was 20. So, what year was it?? And who was the photographer?

I believe the photographer was also Jimmy Olsen. Yeah he died 2 seasons ago, but remember at the funeral we saw a glimpse of a younger brother.

^^ Cool thanks.
Edit to comment above: I just double checked and the Daily Planet scenes from last season's season finale were from 2013.

Great episode(best this year) but when did they futz with the timeline? A 6 year high school reunion? Are the meteor rocks in Smallville making people dumber now? That makes Clark look like even more of a pussy now having powers for 14 years(well, since he started helping people) and still moping around.

I thought this was another great episode on the year. I do think it had a major flaw, but I'll discuss that later.
I loved how they acknowledged Lois had little to no time at Smallville High. I especially liked that it was Clark who poked her about that. I also liked the nods to Lana and Chloe. Good to have them their without actually having them. It was sad for Clark to really say out loud that he knew Lana wasn't coming. For all the memories that he had it would have been nice to have seen the scene where his dad stopped him coming out of the locker room to the football field. That was always a big sticking point for the first four seasons.
I totally forgot that the Smallville mascot was the Crow with the cape and S. It sure does seem like the high school years were so long ago.
My biggest issue and point of confusion was with the future. If the future Clark went through the same events, how did that Clark (or any Clark) become his future self on his own? There would never have been that version to visit otherwise. Chicken or the egg?!? Plus it comes off as Clark being show where he needs to go instead of deciding that on his own or figuring it out. Example - would he have visited Oliver without having seen those events? Sure it was a good move, but more of a "I have to make this because it was shown to me."
I thought the guy from episode 2 saying thank you was nice. Gave Clark some reassurance, but I think that would have been good without his trip the future.
Obviously I thought the ending was fantastic! Hopefully Lois and Clark's relationship moves leaps and bounds from here on out (no pun intended).

Yes. I knew it had a name, I just forgot.

True. I was just going off of seasons which threw me. 10 years - 4 for high school = 6 year reunion. I neglected to factor that we're at the beginning of 10 though and not the end.

The red jacket actually worked for me this week, unlike when they first introduced it. Sort of get a Superboy vibe.

I don't think reunions and homecomings are the same thing. Reunions are when specific classes get together, while a homecoming is for all alumni. So it doesn't have to be a five year increment.

It worked well enough to give us those flashbacks without falling into a clip show trap, but other than that it was pretty pointless.

But then why go? He's dating Lois, remained friends with Chloe, and kept up with Lana. That leaves Pete, so there was no reason to go at all really. No memorable teachers, friends, atheletes, etc. to catch up with.

Re: Smallville -- 200th Episode -- "Homecoming" -- 10/15/10
Consistent meaning Clark always jumped to the future and thus becomes what he sees in the future. It was previous stated in this thread "If the future Clark went through the same events, how did that Clark (or any Clark) become his future self on his own? There would never have been that version to visit otherwise. Chicken or the egg?!?" Consistency is stating that there is no need for Clark to become his future self on his own and no need for a chicken or the egg situation because Clark always jumped to the future and it becomes a self-fulfilling future.
There's no paradox because it's consistently the same events looping if you will. Whereas a paradox would be if Past Clark went to the future and Future Clark kills Past Clark, but then how would Future Clark exist. Oops. Universe implodes.
