Re: The Brady Bunch - (the dumbest plots)
I watched the show in syndication as a child, but don't remember most of it--EXCEPT for the episode where it was boys vs girls building a house of cards to see who would win a prize from the parents. I think they were trying to teach the kids how to share. That part is hazy.
The boys wanted a canoe and the girls wanted a sewing machine. The girls won because Tiger the dog somehow bumped into Greg, causing the cards to fall. I always thought it wasn't fair to lose on such a bad technicality.

As a kid this episode ALWAYS confused me because the boys wanted a rowboat. Now I grew up in the inner city of chicago, and never went camping or on anything to do with boats. What I always thought they were going for was a "robot" but that they didn't know how to pronounce it. I was expecting to see a friggin' robot but never did, instead we saw 2 types of sewing machines. Bah!
I still love the show!

I actually get kind of sentimental whenever I stumble upon an episode of this show on TV nowadays. I used to watch this show as soon as I got home from school when I was in junior high. (I think TBS used to air back-to-back episodes in the early afternoon).
Anyway, I was always fond of the final episode -- specifically when Greg is in the 'beauty parlor' looking to get his orange hair back to its normal color. He has the following exchange with a couple gals he knows in the waiting area while wearing a ski cap that always made me laugh:
Gal: "Isn't the weather a little warm to be wearing a ski cap?"
Greg: "Not if you're going skiing."
Still makes me chuckle (easily amused, I suppose).

Greg: "He's a little stinker"
Carol: "Greg, you know how I hate that word"
I think Carol's head would have exploded in my household!

I had the opportunity to meet Barry Williams a few years back and he was a real nice guy. Signed a bunch of old Brady Bunch stuff we had around the house.
I was never a fan of the show but I have seen every episode one way or another growing up whether it be on TBS or Nick at Nite at the time.

To answer the OP's question, the stupidest plot hands down was when Jan campaigned for and won "Most Popular Girl". I know she harnassed the Brady political machine (remember the successes of dual nominations for Greg and Marcia for student body president and "Who says you can't fight City Hall?" to save Woodland Park), but there is no way she was the most popular girl; that or any year. Five seasons and Jan never brought a fucking friend home. She even had to make up a boyfriend (last name "Glass") in another episode. Plus the bitch almost made the family give up Tiger. I think a better story would have been if Marcia won, even though she wasn't going to the same school. That really would have sent Jan over the edge.
On a side note, I pulled a Greg Brady once . . . I was checking out my new record album (o.k., it was a cd) when I rear-ended another motorist. Luckily for me I didn't have a nark of a younger brother to pull a Cindy-move (tattle on me) and I was still able to go the concert.

Did you ever notice the blooper in that episode? When the house of cards falls, several of the cards stay erect, they were obviously glued together. Robert Reed pokes at it to get it to lay flat as the scene fades out.

Every time I go to Hawaii I always look for that freakin' tiki. I really want one. I can never find it.
The series itself was stupid but I loved watching it in reruns. A friend of mine, when we were kids wanted to go in there and beat the shit out everyone. They were so freakin' stupid and that's what made it so hilarious. My favorite ep. has to be was when Marsha was clocked with the football. It always cracked me up when they kept replaying the scene in that ep.

I have one! A guy at the email [email protected] used to make perfect replicas. Not sure if he still does. You can write and ask.
I emailed the guy and did a search and found this. It looks like it's still available.http://www.tikiroom.com/tikicentral/...m=12&start=150

That mean old Buddy Hinton!
That's one of my favorite episodes, actually. Peter having to fight a bully. Not only that, you got "calm, cool, and collected" out of that episode, thanks to Mike. "I'm going over there to reason with Buddy's father." Mike nearly got into a fight himself there. lol

I like when Mike throws the briefcase on the floor to get the scammer (neck in a brace) to lose the court case. Classic.

I love how Mike always yelled at the top of his lungs if he picked up the phone and it was for someone else. "ALICE!!!!!!!" or a "MARCIA!!!!"
He was worse than the kids in that department.

it's too bad the show isn't syndicated for the kids 'coming-of-age' now. It's not only any networks where I live (New York), and the only Brady Bunch my kid gets exposed to is when i make him watch my DVD's. I think he'd appreciate the show more if it was on Nick, then he wouldn't feel like I was forcing him to watch.

In the episode where the kids scramble to make some money to pay for the engraving on their parents' anniversary platter, they put together a singing group and were rehearsing in the garage. Alice is outside listening and Marcia calls Peter by his real name, Chris. I was so proud of myself when I was 10 to notice that.

"...a mean, dirty killer!"
I am still surprised there was an old man still alive from the time of Jesse James in 1974. Scary.
I always hated Snow White and the Seven Bradys from season five. It was just embarrassing.
