RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
http://www.tmz.com/2010/09/29/comedi...ription-pills/
Very out of nowhere news. I never thought Giraldo was a great comedian, but on the other hand, he wasn't horrible. He was comfortably middle of the road, but generally entertaining. I was also shocked to learn he was a lawyer who graduated from Harvard Law prior to becoming a comic. |

Bummer. He was always great doing celebrity roasts

Crazy news. I only knew him from the roasts but he was always pretty funny. RIP.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
Very unfortunate and sad. Very funny fellow -- I thought he actually did a good job judging the last season of Last Comic Standing.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
Wow... super sad.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
I'd like to know more about this accidental overdose.... 45 is way too young to go.
|
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
RIP
I hope his funeral is done roast-style. |
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
I know the name and the face, but I don't think I've heard much of his material. It's always sad when a comedian dies so young.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
RIP. I'd heard about the OD, but had no idea he was in such bad shape.
|
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
My first thought when I saw the thread title was "what did he OD on?"
Sure enough, there's an "accidental overdose." I mean at his age, what else would it have been? Suicide maybe, but even then it probably would have been pills. |
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
I can't believe Greg Giraldo is gone before Artie Lange.
RIP |
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
OMG. I've been listening to his two albums for the last few days. I really liked him. This is a shock. How sad.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
It's already been removed from Gilbert's Twitter, but here is what he said a few hours ago...
http://i933.photobucket.com/albums/a...sc/Gilbert.jpg TMZ got a comment out of Gottfried; We spoke to Gilbert about the tweet ... who told us he has problems expressing his emotions -- but noted, "Greg can't say anything about it now ... I'm not worried about him calling and complaining." |
Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
Fucking sucks, I first knew him from Tough Crowd. He was brilliant, went to Columbia and Harvard Law.
One of my favorite performances: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Dy2Ako8PMpk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Dy2Ako8PMpk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |

Normally I'd say that's incredibly classless but I agree here. Giraldo was most famous for his roasts and I think he would have appreciated the joke.

/\ TMZ is running a poll asking whether or not that tweet is 'too soon,' and it's almost an even split -screwy-

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
This really sucks! He was so young. I really liked him a lot. Given that I'm an aspiring comic wanna-be, it really makes it all the more senseless. I had heard that he OD'd and was in the hospital, but it sounded like he would recover.

Re: RIP: Greg Giraldo (1965-2010)
there has to be more to this story. just the other day he was in critical but stable condition. i wonder if they found him, revived him, but he was basically brain dead, and his family decided to pull the plug.
