Kind of surprised by this; I was under the impression that David Cross ended the the 2nd season the way he did to ensure there wouldn't be a 3rd season.

Todd Margaret makes more poor decisions with three episodes on January 7 on IFC beginning at 9e/8c. The other three episodes of season 3 will air starting at the same time on January 14.
Also, if you missed them the first two seasons will re-air on December 31.

Returns tonight.
IFC announced that the third season of its original comedy series Todd Margaret starring David Cross (Arrested Development, Mr. Show), will premiere on Thursday, January 7, 2016 with the first three episodes of the six-episode series airing back-to-back beginning at 10pm ET/PT. The remaining three episodes will premiere the following week on Thursday, January 14 at 10pm ET/PT. From the creative mind of Emmy(R) Award winner Cross, this tale of an American's business snafus in London picks up after Todd Margaret reluctantly blew up the world at the close of season two. Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) joins the cast while guest stars Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners 2), Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), Amber Tamblyn (Two and a Half Men) and Russ Tamblyn (Django Unchained) return to the series playing familiar characters... with a twist.

Could get a new thread since it's not just "Todd Margaret," but...
Watched the first three, and it was a bit of mind bend. Honestly, there are so many references to the previous seasons, which were years ago, I had to go back and re-watch most of the prior episodes. Honestly I have no real idea what's going on in S3, but it's still pretty darn funny and I'm glad it's back.
David Cross is just awesome.

Anyone know when this was filmed? Just curious because David Cross has a pretty significant beard right now and he is clean shaven in this. That beard takes a while to grow i would think.
The ratings dropped more than half from the first episode to the third which isn't good considering they were all on the same night in a row.

I had just re-watched the first two seasons the week prior to the new episodes, which did make a difference. I could see people who hadn't seen the first two seasons at all being confused and missing half the humor. But you could say that about a lot of shows.

Yeah, I dove into season 3 without having seen the previous seasons. I didn't find it all that funny, just bizarre. It sounds like there's a lot of things I wouldn't get without watching the old ones.

I would definitely recommend watching the first two seasons if you are able and then coming back to season 3. Most of the real plot of season 3 revolves around the parallels he is noticing between his "dream" and what he is experiencing. Without knowing what he dreamt it won't make much sense or be nearly as funny.

I watched the previous seasons, but forgot so much. I tried watching the first couple of episodes and realized I had no idea what was even going on. I didn't laugh either.
I was annoyed they didn't even include a "previously on..." recap. I don't have time to go re-watch the show before watching this new season.
So I decided to delete it. Too much to watch right now.

They were available on demand for a time but aren't listed now (DirecTV for me). They did run season 1 & 2 marathons at least twice before season 3 premiered, but I don't see any listed going forward. I'm sure they are available through some on-demand source.

Anyone else watch the final 3 episodes? I went ahead and watched without going back to watch the first 2 seasons (no Netflix), so I was pretty much completely lost. I don't think a single thing made sense.
Were the first 2 seasons any good? Maybe one day I'll watch them...

It got pretty surreal, but I liked it.
And yes, the first two seasons are good, and you won't be nearly as confused. In fact, you will probably want to re-watch season 3 after.

I just watched this over the weekend. I probably should have rewatched seasons 1-2, as I felt a little lost with the references. But I really want "Madam, your jam" to be used in at least one porno.

I watched Season 3 and thought it was good, but I did feel I was missing some of the references from the first two seasons.
After watching them again and going into Season 3, I'm catching more references from the first two seasons as well as things that are funnier knowing what's to come in the third season.
Alice (after trying some sauce): That jus is just too rich.
Todd: Garden party? What is that, like a tea party?
Alice: Yeah, yeah I guess that's what you'd call it.
... and the rest of that scene.
