Dexter - Rating the Seasons
Hi guys, just starting watching Dexter, half way through Season one and absolutely loving it

PLEASE NO SPOILERS FOR ANY SEASONS AT ALL

If you could rate the 4 seasons in order, what would they be ?

I think it's hard IMO to rate Dexter season to season. The show is heavily serialized and is like Chapters 1-4 of Dexter Morgan's life. So I take everything as a progression/growth of his character.

But here is my choice

So if I'm reading this right, Season 2 is either the best, worst or most average of the seasons.

They're all great and ranking them wasn't easy for me, but I'm just partial to season 2.

How can ANY seasons of Dexter be below average... the best show on tv... even season 3 was great... with its anticlimactic finale

My rankings are the same as Damfino 2,4,1,3

I dont understand the hate for season two however,
Spoiler:
most people would say Lila was some annoying bitch that ruined the season, but we had two excellent obstacles for Dexter that season: Doakes and Lundy. Doakes for having the instinct to always see something off in Dexter, and wondering if Lundy would eventually see Dexter for what he is too, his character was so smart, Dexter couldnt outsmart him and wouldnt have outsmart him if the events didnt unfold the way they did

However I will say that ranking this show is extremely difficult for me. The seasons are all really great and like someone else said watching the show is like reading chapters from a book and watching the character develop through each chapter (season).

Season 3 wasn't that bad in my opinion. The main thing that dragged it down a bit to me was
Spoiler:
The Skinner side plot was really weak and just felt tacked on. The Miguel story was strong enough on its own and I didn't think they needed to add another bad guy to the story just so the other other members of Miami Metro had something to do. They could have just had them work regular cases or whatever I don't see why there has to be a huge serial killer every season.

Doesn't relate to this thread, but I just called Directv and managed to get all the Showtime channels for $2.99 a month for the next year....Now I'm ready for Dexter on Sunday Night.

2, 1,4, 3. For me anyway, S1 and S2 are really close. Coin flip style. S2 was a tad more intense. S4 was good but not as great as S1 or S2. S3 lags far behind as previously noted.

alright so what seems to be unanimous is i am in for a letdown in season 3 then a spring back to form for season 4, that's cool

I posted a similar thread for 24 when i started watching that and Season 6 came out as being the unanimously worst such that i had no expectations when i got to Season 6 but ended up still enjoying it.

2 and 3 are not bad at all, they're still very very good seasons. It's just that 1 and 4 are so excellent that 2 and 3 have no choice but to be the "least good."
