I hope the ratings keep up because I'm dying to see:
Bonzo's Montreux
Bron Yr Aur
Bron Yr Aur Stomp
D'yer Mak'er
I have to admit there are actually a number of very appropriate episode titles available. Tonight's is a good one. Hope they used it well

I thought this was a really good episode. Initially the story was a little hard to follow with that painting and the arms dealer stuff, but once they brought in Ben Mercer I think it took off. I was very pleased that they finally advanced the arc with Mercer and gave him a confrontation with Annie. It was funny to see how really piss poor Annie was at keeeping her story straight with Joan and trying to hide the details about her encounter with Mercer. I also thought the episode went back to the Pilot and really showed how vulnerable Annie and how she isn't a Super Spy just yet. I mean she could barely take on this Turkish assassins and got her ass kicked along with getting Ben's contact killed.
The one part that I wanted to gag at was the scene with Mohinder joining Annie and her sister at the BBQ. As said in a previous thread, Sendhil Ramamurthy has zero charisma and no chemistry with Piper and I don't know why the producers want to flirt with that "relationship" and shove it down our face. I actually enjoyed the scenes with Ben and I think Piper and that actor have great chemistry. Hopefully that still remains a recurrent storyline going into the last 3 episodes.

Mildly enjoyable episode. The non-linear style of storytelling really didn't work in my opinion. They quite half way through, it just felt like a half ass gimmick. The only show that uses non-linear outlines correctly is The Good Guys in my opinion. I also thought Annie reuniting Mercer should have been held off till the end of the season, it didn't feel right having them build him up as some mysterious, ex-CIA vigilante that protects Annie without her knowledge, and then just have him confront her in episode eight. And Piper/Sendhil have absolutely zero chemistry, there relationship feels forced and unnecessary. Other then that it wasn't bad, and with this shows incredibly low standard kept in mind I'll count it as a victory. For me to come back for the second season I'll have to at least get some enjoyment out of 6 of the 11 episodes. 4-4 right now...

Didnt like this episode either, didnt like:
non-linear storyline
No explanation of why Ben could not contact the asset himself
Why Ben could not be more clear with Anni, the pointlessness of writing on the matchbook instead of being clear and explicit with Annie.

Seems Annie would again be in trouble for leaving her home after her boss told her to stay there that night.
While again, they use the 'start on a cliffhanger' bit, at least it wasn't the normal use of it & the events leading up were her remembering it.

I think the pair have little (but not zero) chemistry, but I think it's Perabo as much as it is Ramamurthy. I think the premise is responsible for the lack of chemistry more than anything, though. A huge thread is obviously Ben and Annie's unresolved feelings. She has chemistry with Auggie, but that's likely because the audience does not see him as a legitimate contender for her.
With that said, Ramamurthy is not exactly burning it up in his role. If they don't give him more of a purpose in the last episode, I'm not sure why it would be worthwhile to bring him back in season 2.
