I voted for the cheesesteakers as they appear to be the strongest team after one episode.
Apparently it's a Food Network rule that the hot girls need to be the most annoying. Not to mention a little sexual suggestiveness with their product.

I remember a huge shitstorm erupted about ten years ago when presidential candidate John Kerry attempted to order a Philly steak sandwich with Swiss cheese on it from one of the cheesesteak joints in Philadelphia.
Which, as a midwesterner, strikes me as kind of strange. We don't really have local quirks like that, where if you don't eat the right kind of pizza or get the wrong condiment on your hamburger you're subjected to shunning and ridicule.
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with Swiss on a steak sandwich and would find it preferable to Cheez Whiz, but it seems to be some kind of local taboo. Struck me as odd that a truck selling "Philly" steaks would break the taboo.

Is this the first season without a dominant Asian cuisine food truck?
Season 1 had the Nom Nom Truck which lost in the finale
Season 2 had Korilla that got DQ'd
Season 3 had Seoul Sausage that won

Hawaiians come back in episode 2! Surprised they blew away the field including the people who won the $500 prize.
I think the frankfurter girl is getting hotter as they go along. Glad they're in for another episode.

My question is how they can make so little money and not know they are gone. Seriously, the winner made 5 or 6 times the loser.
Cheesesteaks need to make a comeback.

Don't get me wrong, I like this show I really do. They need to tone down Tyler though. I just want to see the trucks sell food and whichever trucks make the most money move on to the next week. I can see having one set of rules for each city but the changing things on the fly bit is getting really old and the fact that a truck can suck but win the challenge annoys me too.

And they have to know how much money they made, so it's pretty clear who's contending and who's not. I assume they're just instructed to play up the drama.

If The Great Food Truck Race was passing through my area, I wouldn't bother looking one up because of these stupid fucking speed bumps or whatever. I don't want to go to a BBQ truck only to find out that Tyler's forcing them to have everything vegan. Or go to cheesesteak truck that has to include a clam that looks like a big penis in everything.

I like this season so far and I agree about the Frankfoota girls getting hotter and hotter.
I thought that was a nice gesture at the end to give all the profits to the Hurricane Sandy victims.

Did we see the hot dog truck make a single sale the entire last episode? Don't like how they have been editing the episodes and focusing on the same trucks far too often.
Don't really have a favorite, but I'm completely annoyed by the Bowled and Beautiful truck. The woman aren't attractive and they think their food product is the greatest thing ever (it's a salad).

The few trucks I've had here have been good. Haven't loved some, but they are at least good ingrediants. These look aweful - they grab whatever they can to resell. I swear one was selling frozen burgers this ep. I don't even understand that from an efficiency standpoint.
Anyway, I think the Aloha truck is looking stronger. Philly should be stronger; maybe they will turn it around like grilled cheese from earlier season.

At least the speed bumps etc. seem a little less out there than in previous seasons. At least they are still preparing and selling food.

Re: The Great Food Truck Race Season 4 (Food Network, premieres 8/18/13)
I haven't watched every episode yet, but I did see last nights.
If who is eliminated is based off how much money was in their till at the end of the day/city, how is giving one team a $1,000 bonus fair? If they sold nothing and the next team busted their butts and sold $999, that team would be eliminated? Or are there other factors that make up who goes? The episode or two I saw had Tyler listing the sales totals and it seemed that it was simply the lowest sales go home.

Truth be told, I think this is the most unfair "legit" competition show on the air, by far.

Happy with the winners, even if they never served loco moco.
The Tikka guys... I was probably a bit biased by the report at the start of the thread that some of their stuff just wasn't that good, but the Mike guy just seemed like kind of a self-centered douche. And it was annoying that he kept pronouncing it "Ticka Ticka."
Yes, the bonuses are designed to give big out-of-till boosts, and maybe that's not fair if you're just judging on tills, but this is a TV show, and the producers decided it's more interesting to give teams a quick way to get back in the competition. Fact is, there are a lot of unfair things about the race, like you could just end up with a bad location, or your product is just not conducive to high profit margins. Also, the mini-challenges give the viewer something to watch besides just a stream of cooking and selling. I do think the speed bumps were a little less random than they've been in previous seasons.
And for the record, the final-round winner got a $1500 prize but won by $3K.
