HBO Sports, NFL Films and the New York Jets team up for an all-access look at what it takes to make it in the National Football League when HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE NEW YORK JETS debuts AUG. 11 . The first sports-based reality series – and one of the fastest-turnaround reality series – kicks off its five-episode sixth season, presented in HD, WEDNESDAY, (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO with an encore immediately following the debut at 11:00 p.m., culminating in the Sept. 8 season finale. The cinema verite series will focus on the daily lives and routines of players and coaches as the dynamic New York Jets, who compete in the ultra-competitive AFC East, prepare for the 2010 NFL season. HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE NEW YORK JETS will chronicle second-year head coach Rex Ryan and an intriguing mix of high-profile veterans, free agents and rookie hopefuls throughout training camp and the preseason. Each week, players will experience drills, meetings and fun, while struggling to prove they have what it takes to make the team and make their mark in the NFL. |

But like them or hate them, you have to admit they had a very compelling offseason and they're a good choice for the show. |
Re: Hard Knocks Returns with the NY Jets (premiere 8-11-10)
The Jets are one of those meh teams for me. Nowhere near the hate I hold for the Cowgirls or Aints but not on the level of the Bears or 49ers. They have Buddy's kid running things so that's another positive for them.
This season's HK should be interesting. Is it me or hasn't every one of these teams started the show with a fairly important holdout/contract up in the air? Expect a ton of time on the Revis negotiations. I hope they give guys like Mangold, Greene, and Keller a lot of time instead of the California guy (Sanchez) and the gangsta wannabes (Holmes/Cromartie/etc.) I loved the way they handled the very first season since the main focus was showing how the first year players came into camp along with the other side of things where guys (Goose) were on their way out. |

Can't believe I wrote that but thats how much I hate them. But I really mean no one ill. Well maybe severe migraines before each game. |

Does Rex kiss his mother with that mouth?

Re: Hard Knocks Returns with the NY Jets (premiere 8-11-10)
The o-lineman from Hawaii is tops on my list for people I wouldn't want to be right now. To have the clip of the head coach commenting on your awfulness as a football player and then get cut at the end of the episode isn't good for the self-esteem:lol:
I noticed Namath didn't bring the daughter that got knocked up at 16 with him to camp, wonder why? :) |
Re: Hard Knocks Returns with the NY Jets (premiere 8-11-10)
Sanchez needs some work on his trash talk.
Bart Scott: "Sanchez! You Nacho!" Sanchez: "Nachos arent even Mexican. I'm going to tell him that Nachos aren't Mexican, that'll show him" |

Hopefully the Pats pick him up. ;) Kind of feel bad for the other guy. It looks like he has a ton of talent but the knees were just terrible. I'm hoping that this Revis situation plays out with Rex, the coaches, the front office guys and the team all in one room with Revis and his agents. That'll make for good TV. |

Im a Giants fan but damn i love Rex's attitude...
funny episode ... should be a great season |

If you wouldn't want Rex as coach of your favorite team, you need to check your nuts at the door. This guy is obviously a chip off Buddy's block. I suspect that this may get Rob over the hump as far as getting a HC job is concerned.
I will admit, my jaw hit the floor over all the unfiltered 4-letter words in the first 5 minutes of the show. Rex signing his contract then telling his wife she could go shopping but not go overboard  |

I was impressed with Sanchez's one handed catches when they were playing around.

If you have big hands its not that hard.

I meant to bump this for tonights episode but I forgot. I'm sure if you missed it you can catch a replay.
Pretty solid episode. I like that they spent some time focusing on Kyle Wilson and Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie brings some great unintentional comedy. Loved when he was having trouble figuring out his kids names. The guy is such a stereotype. Loved them showing Eli getting decked about 5 times. I hope next week they focus in on Shonne Greene. He's our starting RB and he's barely been mentioned on the show. And the best line of the night was when they were talking about how Joe McKnight had been struggling and someone (I'll have to go back and see who) said "He's from USC, he's probably upset that he had to take a pay cut." |

Re: Hard Knocks Returns with the NY Jets (premiere 8-11-10)
Please forgive me if this is taken as thread crapping, but how were the Vikings not picked for this year, with everything going on with the team: Favre, Harvin's migraines, Rice's "hurt" holdout?, EJ coming back, Williams wall drug investigation, etc.
I'll watch this show no matter what team they do, but it seems like if you wanted to drum up good drama, the Vikings would have been the obvious choice this year. How do they go about picking the team they're focusing on? |

How do they go about picking the team they're focusing on? I think they simply pick the team with the most intriguing story and the Jets have a lot more going on there. They were a surprise AFC Championship team, they have a colorful head coach (like him or not, colorful is the right word), their best player is holding out (although the hold out started after they decided to follow the Jets), they have an intriguing second year QB running the offense, they brought in two future hall of famers (LT and Jason Taylor), they traded for a pot head who will miss 4 games (Holmes) and they traded for Cromartie and his 15 kids. The Jets have clearly been the story of the offseason. |
Re: Hard Knocks Returns with the NY Jets (premiere 8-11-10)
I'd much rather the Vikings never do this show. We've had enough media attention as it is.

First, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to stay away from the Vikings because of how sick people are of Favre (outside of Viking fans). But that's neither here nor there.
