Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
Latest news:
Kara is out! Steve Tyler will definately be a judge. Randy will most likely be a judge. They were wanting Jennifer Lopez to be the third judge but Lopez apparently was wanting too much, so now they are looking at Mariah Carey. |
Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
mariah carey will only be good if she goes batshit insane.

Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
I hate this show, and look forward to its looming demise.

I'd still rather see Shania, though. On the Steven Tyler deal, I'm actually torn. Sure, he has significant industry credentials, and I've been watching some of his recent interviews, and I think he would be a more articulate judge than Kara by a long shot, but I don't want to see Idol turn into a hard rocker contest, and my fear is that with him on board, it might lean more in that direction. |

Idol is dead, so none of this matters.

Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
With 2 of the 3 original judges gone and now Ellen and Kara too, I think I might finally break up with Idol for good. I've watched for 8 of it's 9 seasons, but the show is a shell of it's former self and I think the ratings are going to take a hit in season 10. If they sign Shania Twain, I would consider coming back to season 10, but not to hear that hack Randy Jackson, J-Lo and Steven Tyler. Hell no.
Does FOX really seriously expect to get 3 more seasons out of Idol? I heard that's what they renewed it for last season. They are really running this show into the ground. |
Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
i'm done w/ idol, myself. simon was the reason for watching and honestly, the talent the past few years has been pretty lacking.

I've been a big fan of Idol since the beginning, but my interest has never been lower.

Same here. I can't fathom having to look at Steven Tyler each week.
The show is done. Just watch The X Factor. It's American Idol...but with Simon Cowell. Why would anybody actually watch Idol? |

Ooohhh....kay. I'd love nothing more than for Idol to go down in flames. Too bad another shitty "talent" show will probably just take its place. |

Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
This is going to be the worst season of Idol ever... and I couldn't be happier!

Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
they are going to milk the who are the judges for a while but really the show has to be about the contestants. Interesting/diverse contestants = ratings. Angling for a certain type of winner by stacking the decks with all female Taylor Swift types or White guys with guitars is boring and people who don't like that type of singer will tune out and the ratings will suffer. They need to remember that Season 5 had a diverse group of singers and that was one of the highest rated seasons. Almost all television shows are declining in ratings. AI is still the highest rated (non-sports) in the demographics that advertisers care about. People may hate AI because that is the "cool" thing to do but I still see it being for those 3 years that it is signed on for and probably longer since it is so cheap to produce and gets so much axillary profits.

I hate it because it gives marginally talented people exposure they don't deserve. The fact that so few of the winners went on to be successful only proves it's a popularity contest, nothing more.
6 of the past 8 winners have sold more than 1 million albums each. Each of the winners has made more than 1 million dollars after appearing on the show from endorsements, AI tour, etc. American Idol gives some people a chance at stardom and for a lot of them it is a chance they would not have gotten without American Idol. There is a lot wrong with American Idol and how they run things but the concept of any one could be the next star is still there even if the producers are trying to screw things up. |

except for sanjaya most of the top 12 have been fairly good. and a lot of the ones who didn't win ended up on broadway or some other entertainment career that isn't in the spotlight all the time most of the one hit wonders i've heard over the years have about as much talent as a top 12 AI contestant |
Re: Ellen DeGeneres out as 'American Idol' judge
Don't they usually start the auditions in July/August? How are they doing it this year while they sort the judging mess out? Two 'guest judges' with Randy?
