This certainly was an improvement over last week - though there really wasn't anywhere to go but up. My one question is: why was Isles placed in general population? Maybe this is just a conceit of cop shows and cop films but it's my understanding that police officers and/or folks who work for the police are not put in a situation where they may interact with folks they've put in jail. I know the writers just wanted Isles to experience some hardships in lockup but did no one think to put her in isolation?

Wow, 2 straight weeks of pretty good episodes.
Less Lorraine Bracco, Less cheeseball Rizzoli family drama and the show becomes so much more compelling.
Glad we got some closure to the whole Paddy Doyle storyline. That was pretty freaking messed up that Paddy murdered Cavanaugh's wife and baby like that.
Totally unforgivable act.

And now the show regresses back to stupidity again.
The whole coffee incident, which was the basis of this episode, was freaking laaaame!! Especially the big twist that the Apartment manager was involved.
Also, really? Frankie and Frost goofing off the EMP gun?

Renewed for a 5th season. Not surprised. But the show can be so inconsistent.

It looks like they have at least 12 of the 15 episodes in the can.
The summer finale (episode 12) is on September 10th.
I'm guessing that this drastically changes how they were planning to end the season.

Yeah, that's the most logical solution since he just got promoted to detective. I'd rather that than trying to introduce a new character. Either that or that guy from Vice who's been around lately.

Re: Rizzoli and Isles (TNT) -- Season 5 Thread -- Tuesdays
Decent 1st episode.
I thought they handled the death of Frost (Lee Thompson Young) the best they could with that ending. Having Frost get killed in a car accident on the way back from vacation was probably the best way to write it without Young there.
Looks like next week they are following things up with the funeral. I'm glad they chose to write in his death as opposed to some cheesy send off. Sometimes you have to be realistic to life situations. I know alot of shows in the past wrote in character deaths that happened in real life. Most recently Dallas with Larry Hagman, also on TNT.
I know they have been touching on the Frankie and Maura thing since the last few episodes of season 4. But, I hope they don't drag that out with some will they or won't they.

Tuesdays episode did a solid job handling Frost's death in the show. Sasha and especially Angie were really good. It brought closure to the character and handled it tastefully.
The case of the week was decent too with the amnesiac girl and her boyfriend getting killed.
