Merlin -- Series 2 Finale -- 07/02/10

I started this thread to let everyone know that SyFy is having a Merlin Season 2 marathon starting at 10 AM Friday.

So Arthur is really becoming the Lois Lane of this series.

Excellent finale, with some great drama and special effects. I thought the actor playing Merlin did a really good job. Loved the interaction between Merlin and his father. Gaius was his usual awesome self. Loved 99% of the episode...

...and there's the 1% I hated. Ugh. Arthur is conveniently unconscious while Merlin banishes the dragon, and then wakes up a second later. And when Merlin tells him he delivered a mortal wound to the dragon, he doesn't question how the damn thing managed to fly away or how Merlin knows it's dead? Nope, he just laughs, not even knowing if all of his knights have been killed.

Still, I loved it.

Everytime Arthur passes out, i think of Smallville.

Unlike the above poster, I thought 50% was good. When Merlin said "Good night, father", I added "for tomorrow you die". The next day he was dead. The whole show was too predictable. I did like the dragon, special effects and some of the acting was tolerable. The show is targeted to children too much and I think that hobbles the writers.

I am not sure how anyone could Gaius's character. He doesn't do anything. The real disappointment to me is the lack of Morgana. The season finale have been better episodoe with Uther dying and Morgana emerging as a the arch nemesis, but I am sure we will get there .... when clark becomes superman and flies away.

Some good news about season 3. SyFy officially picked it up and will air it in early 2011 after they finish their run in the UK.

^Cool. I thought Season 2 finished strong. I've been avoiding any info about Season 3, but I hope they shake things up some and advance the story arcs.
