GasLand (2010) - HBO documentary on natural gas drilling
Anyone see this last night? I thought it was pretty disturbing....to say the least. A review on imdb says it's just Michael Moore exaggeration and I'd be interested to know what was considered untrue or stretched or whatever.
It is available On Demand and will probably be re-run several more times.
Here's the trailer:
<object width="640" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hbo.com/bin/hboPlayeru.swf?vid=1099970"></param><param name="FlashVars" value="domain=http://www.hbo.com&videoTitle=Trailer"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.hbo.com/bin/hboPlayeru.swf?vid=1099970" FlashVars="domain=http://www.hbo.com&videoTitle=Trailer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="480"></embed></object>
Also, the director was on The Daily Show last night. Here's the interview from that:

I caught it and thought it was good. Something I definitely was not aware of. HBO continues to put out strong documentaries (their past few in particular).

I saw it and I thought it had credibility due to the film maker living it, having the company try to lease his land.
PLUS it seems pretty obvious that corporations control our government, and this is more proof of that, just check out how BP is stopping the press from reporting on oil spill...
And there are already industry folks out there spreading smears against film, you want to know what to believe about it, just open your eyes and notice who is calling the shots in America today, do you think the oil and gas extractive industries care about the little people???

Caught this tonight. Very well done. It's a terrible terrible practice, even if the incidents are isolated. The EPA guy toward the end gave the best answer from a corporate type person I've ever heard. Seemed straight forward and honest.
