Did anybody else watch "Bert the Conqueror"?
I like the concept of the show, but they have to get rid of Bert. I found his histrionics incredibly annoying. I wonder where they found him, because he's obviously not a thrill ride junkie. They don't scream like that.

I didn't think it was bad. They have to get rid of the close-up, in mouth shots while he's screaming though. Or at least, get him some better dental work.

I missed the first airing, but I'm catching a replay on Saturday. But I thought the idea was that he was a guy that was conquering things that he normally wouldn't be doing. He's not supposed to be a thrill ride junkie, as that wouldn't be all that interesting. Part of the appeal would be that it's someone who hasn't done all these things over and over.

All echo my feelings exactly. Interesting concept, but Bert immediately makes me want to not watch. "Histrionics" is a great word for it.

agreed - good concept, wrong host. i don't need to watch a grown man scream like a little girl. heck, he screams worse than little girls when there is a little girl on the ride as well. bert is annoying. find a new host and they might have something.

Yikes. Just goes to show you that you are putting your life into the hands of someone who probably isn't qualified to be a shift manager at McDonald's.

I joined this forum just to comment on this thread. I can't stand this show -- mainly because of Bert, he's annoying as hell and an idiot. He's too over dramatic and obviously tries too hard to be funny and make his mark. I just can't watch it even though the activities seem like fun. I could really do a better job than him - although most of us could.
Apparently he was a party guy in college, he was discovered there, and that movie "Van Wilder" was loosely based on him. I'm sorry, just too damn annoying.

jeesh what's with all the hate with the host - I like Bert (well, maybe I just biased toward 'bears'), I think he's a riot - and yes, I watch the show.

He's been on Joe Rogan's podcast a few times and told some really great stories. The one about a group of Russian mobsters getting him shitfaced and convincing him to help them rob a train in Russia is amazing. He's really funny when he isn't being restrained by his show's PG standards and can go into R-Rated mode.

I've watched the show a few times but it's too watered down for kids.
