Justified -- "Fathers and Sons" -- 06/01/10

Justified

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
With Bo Crowder's meth operation ramping up, Art and Raylan try to enlist Arlo to infiltrate his gang. Boyd Crowder doesn't approve of his father's business, either. And Ava has a grudge of her own against Bo.

Next week is the season finale.

No news on when season 2 will premiere. Most likely early 2011 if I had to guess.

Maybe if we are lucky season 2 will premiere sometime in January. I hope season one makes it to bluray.

Well, FX has a very small plate of scripted shows right now, so I think it might indeed move up to January especially since Damages and Nip/Tuck aren't returning.

Love the pic in the OP. This show has become one of my favorites.

Agreed. A Blu-ray release is exactly what I want.

That was fantastic, and the preview for next week looks amazing.

That Ava is my hero!

BTW, the actress that plays Ava is 3 years older than the actress that plays Rayland's ex - I thought it'd be the other way around.

Great episode.

They've done a fantastic job with Boyd's character and the whole Boyd, Beau, and Raylan relationship dynamic is so well done I can't wait to see what happens next week.

Great stuff.

Timothy Olyphant has been the heart of this show, but it was good to see an ensemble episode. Great acting all around. This episode reminded me of Sons of Anarchy, and I mean that in a good way.

Re: Justified -- "Fathers and Sons" -- 06/01/10

I wonder how much they plan to wrap up next week... the story arc is just starting to take shape and I fear that they will feel the need to do something big next week.

The scene in the Veteran's place with the grenade was great.

The only thing I didn't like was Ava and the shotgun in the bar - I understand the need to do it from a plot perspective, it just seemed clumsy to me.

And I definitely agree it was great to see the ensemble carry much of the show... I would like to see more from the other Marshalls too.

I am happy to see they didn't go the route of having Raylan shoot someone every week.

Very interesting development with the exwife at the motel, and i liked the visceral wordless nature of it from start to finish.

I'm convinced that Walton Goggins is the greatest actor on tv right now. That includes all the fall shows.

Outstanding show last night. I'm fairly certain that Boyd is sincere in "fighting evil" by any mean necessary. Last scene, he has messed Beau up big time. Love the double-con Arlo is running on Beau AND the marshals.

Especially in a show that is all about dialogue.

I can't believe that they had originally planned for Walton to be gone after the first episode. Crazy.

I still can't believe that was the plan either. To go from wanting to kill him off, to developing this character for him. I have no idea what arc they had planned for his absence, but it could not have been as good as this.

It definitely makes sense, since they took him in a completely different direction. For me his finding God stuff kind of feels like it came out of nowhere, but it totally works, and I couldn't see them leaving him the way he was in the pilot. In fact when I was watching that episode I couldn't figure out how they were going to stretch this out over a season without the guy either getting locked up or killed by the 3rd week. (And proving my point they did it in the same episode. )

The religious angle works great though because it'll be a lot harder to catch him in the act, and the fanatical nature makes him 10x more dangerous IMO.

Re: Justified -- "Fathers and Sons" -- 06/01/10

Great episode! I thought this show was decent, but was just working on a very slow build. Then, almost all of a sudden, things just got ratcheted up a few amps and now each week seems to get even better. Definitely sorry that next week is the end, even with BN and RP back and Rescue Me coming up. (IASIP is soon too, right?)

I really can't wait until the next season of Justified. I can only imagine what they have in store next week (and leave as material to build upon for season 2).

(I'd LOVE for Walton Goggins to be recognized for his incredible perfomances. Very definitely Emmy-worthy!)

Second best on TV.

I pretty much agree with everyone who's posted in this thread. The shows amazing, another great episode, loved the grenade scene, next week looks awesome, hopefully it's back sooner rather than later.
