Re: Luther -- "Episode 2" -- 10/24/10 (BBC America)

I just finished this series last night. I can not praise it enough. I watched episode 1 sometime last week and really liked it, so the next night I watched episode 2. I didn't really care for it. I then let the show go until this past Sunday when I watched episode 3. It was so good that on Monday I finished the last 3 back to back. I loved it. I will enjoy reading what others think.

Re: Luther -- "Episode 2" -- 10/24/10 (BBC America)

Just catching up on this on my DVR (I was up to four), and I watched this episode tonight. Thought the main plot was slightly standard though the resolution showed that Luther pretty much has a death wish.

I became an instant Ruth Wilson fan last year with the mediocre Prisoner remake, and I just love what they're doing with her relationship with Luther. Their scenes together were easily the best thing in the first episode, and I'm really interested with where that is going.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Framed for murder, the only person John Luther can turn to for help is Alice. As Luther plots with Alice, DCI Reed remains at the heart of the police team, quietly shoring up the evidence against Luther from within. Even Rose Teller, Luther's former stalwart supporter, now leans on Reed for emotional support and, when the murder weapon is found at the crime scene covered in Luther's fingerprints, Ripley's confidence in Luther wavers too.

Final episode of the season. Season 2 is currently filming in the UK, but BBC America is unsure when or if they will air in the States. It's going to be 2 episodes (2 hours each)

I'm 1 episode behind, but from what I have seen, this is a well written series with solid performances. I forgot to do the episode 5 thread, but I realized it a little too late already. I have to assume that most of you here don't have/don't really watch BBC America, hence there isn't really any feedback from anyone here. Or have most of you seen this already through alternative means on the net?

Hopefully season 2 airs in the States in 2011.

BTW, if any of you here were interested in watching, but don't have BBC America or Cable. This comes on DVD this Tuesday.

Re: Luther -- Season Finale -- "Episode 6" -- 11/21/10

I saw the first episode on BBC America. Somehow I missed the second so I just ordered the set from Amazon UK (it's about $15-$16 shipped from the UK for those with region free players). I've now seen the second episode.

I think this show is brilliant, with great performances and writing. I think it's far superior to the overhyped Sherlock.

Ruth Wilson (playing Alice) is delivering one of the creepiest roles on TV. The way she whispers when she speaks is positively chilling. And Idris Elba is showing how he is master of the nuance thing.

What an excellent series. I actually enjoyed this far more than Dexter. I think I'll be buying that UK dvd just so I can show it to friends.

I didn't really understand why the boyfriend immediately suspected Luther of killing Zoe and not the insane woman that had recently been breaking into the their home and threatening their lives.

Quick questions, my DVR cut off somehow. Was the ending scene:

Spoiler:
the 3 of them standing in the warehouse or subway tunnel, right after Reid got shot, and Luther saying something to the effect of "Now what?"

Great series, really enjoyed it.

Re: Luther -- Season Finale -- "Episode 6" -- 11/21/10

Finished this over the weekend. Aside from the Ruth Wilson/Stringer Bell relationship episodes 2-5 were mostly standard, but that relationship really made the show quite unique. Then came episode six where they're working together...

I'm interested in a second series only if Ruth Wilson is back.
