Glee early-renewed for third season in 2011

From comingsoon.net;

Before even finishing its first season, the award-winning, underdog comedy "Glee" has been picked up through its third season, it was announced today by Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks Group; and Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

"In just one year, 'Glee' has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon," said Rice. "We are incredibly proud to have talent like Ryan Murphy and the 'Glee' cast in our Fox family, and we can't wait to see where Ryan takes the show in Seasons Two and Three."
I don't watch the show, but I have to remark at what a tremendous show of faith Fox has in the property in order to secure it so early.

I am sure the show is a cash cow with the supplement of iTunes and CD sales. It has huge merchandising potential as well.

FOX is making so much money of the royalties for this show this isn't coming as a surprise to me at all. Not to mention by planning seasons 2 and 3 together FOX should save a lot of money in the long run. The interesting part to me is when the show premiered Ryan Murphy said he had a 3-year arc lined up for the show. I wondering if he's changed his mind about such a short run...

24 is over...Bones/House/Idol are most likely going to be done in the next couple of years.. Glee is one of the few shows that has promise.

Once the third season is over, they will spin Brittany off into her own show. She will walk the earth, and have adventures, kinda like Caine from Kung Fu.
