I'll add to the chorus for Six Feet Under as most satisfying. Still makes me tear up.

It's not a contest, so more than one title per category is fine. And if you want to throw in your own category, go for it.. Also if you can, give a few thoughts why you felt the way you did (but for the sake of potential new viewers please confine any commentary over plot specifics to inside spoiler tags) I know there has to be another thread here with this same topic, but I searched and nothing came up so.... Least satisfying: X-files. Most Creative: Newhart |

MacGyver and Quantum Leap had decent, if not completely satisfying endings. |

Re: Series Finales: What's your vote for Least/Most Satisfying?
Thinking about the x-files ending really pisses me off. I dealt with the last 3 seasons of mostly crap and got a ending that entirely sucked heh. FU Chris Carter! heh

my favorite was "Heroes", because it was the finale.

Least satisfying -- this category gets two divisions -- known departure division: Gilmore Girls (if only by virtue of not seeing the creator's vision for the ending she mentioned she already had written) |

I think we can all agree we need a new ending to the x-files.

Re: Series Finales: What's your vote for Least/Most Satisfying?
I'm not sure if this is OT or not. I really no longer watch any TV shows till they are done with. A ending, not a CH or some cut short end that needs a ending. SCTC was the last one. I mean "I love you John" and that was it, it was not even a ending.

Re: Series Finales: What's your vote for Least/Most Satisfying?
I'll admit I was not a fan of the Seinfeld finale at first. However, after a few years and having re-watched it a number of times, it's a very "Seinfeld" type episode and I've grown to like it a bit more. Sure it's still not an amazing finale but not as bad as I once thought it was. The bit at the very end with Jerry doing standup in prison is really funny as well and I didn't remember that part originally.
Some of the shows from the UK have great finales, perhaps because the seasons are usually very short so they craft a nice tight narrative(Life on Mars and more recently Ashes to Ashes). Dexter tends to do that as well. |

Most satisfying/creative: Six Feet Under
Least: Lost |

Most: Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Cheers, Star Trek: The Next Generation
Least: Seinfeld, The X-Files (the recent movie added insult to injury), Most Creative: Newhhart, The Sopranos, St. Elsewhere I've purposely not mentioned enders like Twin Peaks and Dallas, which ended on strong episodes, but were actually filmed before their cancellations were official - and were only supposed to be season-cliffhangers, as opposed to series finales. |

Re: Series Finales: What's your vote for Least/Most Satisfying?
Most Satisfying/Creative: Six Feet Under
Nothing compares to that series finale. It had everything you could want in an ending. Proof is that at least once a month, the finale thread gets bumped up on here from someone that just watched it. Least: Seinfeld Hated that it ended the way it did. |
Re: Series Finales: What's your vote for Least/Most Satisfying?
Most: The West Wing
Least: Seinfeld |
