Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

My plan is to wait until it is all on DVD and then watch the whole series marathon style. I have no distaste for the series or the finale events, I just like viewing highly serialized stories in as quick a secession as possible. That in mind, how do I avoid being spoiled for everything considering the hype around the finale?

I'd avoid this forum and ones like it until you're done. I imagine references to LOST and its ending will pop up all over threads this summer.

My guess is that you'll be okay if you observe that rule and avoid any groups of coworkers, etc, who will be loudly talking about what goes down tonight when you're at work tomorrow.

Not possible.

So I'm going to spoil most of it for you in the coming minutes.

I'm going to PM you with the ending.

Start watching now and by the time you are done with all 5 seasons, six will be right around the corner.

Doctor Jack Shepherd's orders? Avoid TVtalk for 7-10 days.

It doesn't really matter about the spoilers until after Locke kills Sawyer. Spoilers are REALLY hard to avoid after that.

I actually started off doing this for Lost. Was able to wait until season 3 was over before I jumped in and of course I have been stuck waiting week after week, year after year since then. Good job waiting this long. I would definitely start now. The first couple seasons had like 24 or 25 shows, 40+ minutes long each.

You have been spoiled.

I'm actually manager of a small niche retail store and my co-worker is someone who isn't into Lost, so I think I'm safe in that regard. I will most likely have to avoid news boards like msn and yahoo though.

I'm taking the same approach as you, OP and just finished season 1 on DVD. I haven't had a problem up to this point avoiding spoilers, but of course that means avoiding 2/3 of the current TV Talk threads.

I think it's an interesting question. The last HUGE "mystery" finish (i.e. one where nobody knew how it was going to end and speculated on it for years ahead of time) was The Sopranos. I'm sure there are people who still don't know how that series ended, but it must have been hard to avoid all spoilers after that series finale. I don't know how LOST ends (yet anyway, being a western state resident), but if the conclusion has anything nearly that level of "newsworthiness", I'd imagine it would be hard not to overhear or read about the major revelations somewhere over the next few days.

You actually have an advantage because you haven't seen a full episode. Before I watched any episodes (on DVD) I would hear spoilers all the time and not have any idea what the hell people were talking about. Of course it will be completely different if it turns out to be something like "It was all a dream" and it's on the local news and in late night monologues.

I keep meaning to watch the 1st 5 seasons (they are all on Netflix streaming) since I keep hearing everyone rave about Lost (not to mention seeing all the threads in this forum) but I haven't been able to find the time between work and the shows I currently follow (lately Justified and Treme are so good I rewatch the eps at least once, especially Justified).

I was trying to avoid spoilers but then half of my friends on Facebook posted all about the finale.

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

I had heard all the hype about the show, and when some friends bought the first couple of seasons on DVD I tried watching. Got through about 6 or 8 episodes, but just couldn't make myself watch any further...just not my cup of tea. No reason to get into why on this thread. But I had heard no spoilers before that (it was probably during season 4 airing), and have heard none since then, maybe because I am so uninterested in the show they just go right by me without noticing. Point being, I still have no clue about anything that happens beyond those first few episodes, so it is VERY possible to avoid spoilers...especially now that the series is done and people soon quit talking about it altogether.

I have also never watched Lost, but if I had to choose between watching all of the seasons for Lost or Supernatural, which one will piss me off less?

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

How long are you waiting for? Because I think unless you either read/hear something right before you watch it or have an incredibly great memory, anything you read/hear today or even a month from now will be forgotten by the time you get into the story.

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

Given the finale we got last night, I highly doubt you will be able to avoid what they revealed in the last episode. The problem is you can be spoiled by just a few select words. It's kind of like The Sixth Sense, if you hear just a bit of info it will be "ruined".

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

Ironically, I don't think spoilers mean TOO much for this series. There is so much going on that even knowing something drastic like someone is going to die doesn't really spoil it. The only thing that might spoil it is expecting every mystery they introduce to be answered. Just no way that'll happen.

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

I think the ending will also be ridiculed or mentioned by some other show or movie, I'd be more worried about that happening.
