Why would they need to move on to the next life only after someone else brought them around?

The church thing could have been in the last episode as an epilogue without a season of pointless storylines with no real reason.
I see the awakenings as like a dream, it all seems real till your mind clicks with reality and you realize that you're dreaming. They needed someone they had a deep connection with to jolt their mind into realizing that they had already had that experience and then they "woke up"

I say that speaking and someone who loves ambiguity and would be fine with none of LOST's major questions being answered. My problem is "mysteries" became part of the writers bag of tricks, many being bogus and contradictory and in the end distracting from, as the article says, the "heart" of the show.
Yeah, if they didnt spend so long on some of these "mysteries" maybe we wouldnt care so much. If they only had Walt do one weird thing, who would of cared? But they beat that horse so much for almost 2 years and then nothing. I know i didnt watch this show just for the characters. Otherwise, how was this show different than any other show?

I dont even know why they included the Sideways world/alt anyways. They could've just tacked on the church scene at the end and it would've had the same effect. Now, watching those alt scenes again will be a huge bore. Who cares about Jack's kid? he doesnt exist. I thought they were gonna have this huge twist at the end, but they just got lazy. I dunno if i wanna watch the series again, all the mysteries were what dragged me in and everytime i see scenes that i thought mattered(jacob's cabin) it'll mean nothing cause i know aren't going to explain any of it.

It would of been much better if they just ended it with Jack dying on the island and the plane flying overhead. Leaving out all the religious junk.

For Damon and Carlton, that there has been this much debate in just three days is pretty much mission accomplished.

It should read "All the Mysteries Of What is In This Set Will Be Revealed..."

Yeah I posted this earlier. The mysteries were revealed - just not solved.

Would've been nicer if the image was a blanket over a supersized cork.

I'm not sure that's the best way to gauge success. The Vincent dream ending probably would've generated even more.

And they are officially on radio silence. How convenient for them.

I like how most the people who liked the finale (and based on the poll it's the majority) have moved on. Sigh.

I watched an episode of Fringe last night, that was almost musical like, and I have to wonder what this board would be like if they had done that!

That would have been a perfect way to explain away a bunch of stuff without expository dialogue.
Sung by Miles, while Frank and Ben do the watusi behind him:

"There was a long, skinny boat,
Man, that outrigger that could really float.
We shot first. But who shot back?
Our future selves! It was like being on crack!"

Yep that's what it was so there were only 2 dresses. Thanks.

Spoilerized for size.

Re: Lost -- 2 1/2 Hour Series Finale -- "The End Part 1 & 2" -- 05/23/10

My apologies if these questions sound incredibly stupid or were already asked up-thread, but was it revealed how the characters died? At what point did, say, Desmond die? Or Sayeed? Or Kate? Still confused about that. I assumed that because Kate, Sawyer and Lapidus were seen flying over the island when Jack died that they survived, but then Kate and Sawyer were seen in the church with the rest of the dead cast.

Anyway, was entertained by the final episode (despite the Land of the Lost-esque earthquakes and cave), but was very much "WTF?" (and not in a good way) at the cop-out of a conclusion. That the entire "sideways" universe -- pretty much half the season -- ended up not mattering at all sucked. Performances across the board were stellar and the confrontation between Locke and Jack was appropriately epic.

Well, I'm glad we solved the mystery of the strapless dress. Cross one off the list!

No, except for the characters we actually saw die. Probably the last one to die was Hurley, in the year 4015.

Biggest mystery I want resolved: How does unplugging a candy machine make the candy bar drop?

The only way the candy bar can come to terms with it's life is to "let go". Unplugging the machine = Getting the shit beaten out of you by Desmond.

i'd like a spinoff ^

and maybe a spinoff of Ajira... "The Ajira 6" but i still think the duct tape didn't hold up and the 2 gallons of fuel put them somewhere in the middle of the ocean

That occurred in Purgatory, so like anything in the "Flash Sideways" universe, the answer is "An Angel did It!"

And how did he get his arm so far up in the machine in the first place? Is Sawyer secretly Plasticman? For that matter, why did the lights in the room go off when he unplugged the candy machine?

These questions are every bit as important as the outrigger issue.

Of all things, THIS is what confuses you? As Christian said, "everybody dies". They all went back home, lived their lives, and eventually died... of old age, of cancer, whatever. I don't think it matters.
