Agreed. That is what I was getting at a few pages back. They built it up but it doesn't make any real sense as an afterlife. It was just a screwy version of the old reality. And waking people up by beating them up or whatever...just weird. Why wouldn't they awaken when they were "done" with whatever they needed to work through? Why would they need to move on to the next life only after someone else brought them around?
The church thing could have been in the last episode as an epilogue without a season of pointless storylines with no real reason.

Hilarious, the ol' "blame the audience" routine. Yep, people should just watch tv blindly never asking for answers to questions a show raises. Stupid, stupid, people. If the argument is that all that stuff was peripheral, then guess what, the show wasted a lot of time and energy with nonsense.
I say that speaking and someone who loves ambiguity and would be fine with none of LOST's major questions being answered. My problem is "mysteries" became part of the writers bag of tricks, many being bogus and contradictory and in the end distracting from, as the article says, the "heart" of the show.

I dont even know why they included the Sideways world/alt anyways. They could've just tacked on the church scene at the end and it would've had the same effect. Now, watching those alt scenes again will be a huge bore. Who cares about Jack's kid? he doesnt exist. I thought they were gonna have this huge twist at the end, but they just got lazy. I dunno if i wanna watch the series again, all the mysteries were what dragged me in and everytime i see scenes that i thought mattered(jacob's cabin) it'll mean nothing cause i know aren't going to explain any of it.
It would of been much better if they just ended it with Jack dying on the island and the plane flying overhead. Leaving out all the religious junk.

For Damon and Carlton, that there has been this much debate in just three days is pretty much mission accomplished.

I like how most the people who liked the finale (and based on the poll it's the majority) have moved on. Sigh.

I watched an episode of Fringe last night, that was almost musical like, and I have to wonder what this board would be like if they had done that!

Sung by Miles, while Frank and Ben do the watusi behind him:
"There was a long, skinny boat,
Man, that outrigger that could really float.
We shot first. But who shot back?
Our future selves! It was like being on crack!"

My apologies if these questions sound incredibly stupid or were already asked up-thread, but was it revealed how the characters died? At what point did, say, Desmond die? Or Sayeed? Or Kate? Still confused about that. I assumed that because Kate, Sawyer and Lapidus were seen flying over the island when Jack died that they survived, but then Kate and Sawyer were seen in the church with the rest of the dead cast.
Anyway, was entertained by the final episode (despite the Land of the Lost-esque earthquakes and cave), but was very much "WTF?" (and not in a good way) at the cop-out of a conclusion. That the entire "sideways" universe -- pretty much half the season -- ended up not mattering at all sucked. Performances across the board were stellar and the confrontation between Locke and Jack was appropriately epic.

Well, I'm glad we solved the mystery of the strapless dress. Cross one off the list!

These questions are every bit as important as the outrigger issue.
