CBS orders four dramas, two comedies Eye books 'Hawaii Five-O' among new pilots By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER CBS spread the good news to its pilot producers on Monday, giving greenlights to four dramas and another comedy for the coming season. The dramas all hail from CBS TV Studios: "Hawaii Five-O," "Defenders," the spinoff of "Criminal Minds" and Tom Selleck starrer "Blue Bloods" (formerly known as "Reagan's Law"). The comedy comes from Warner Bros. TV: "$#*!" My Dad Says." CBS' first series order for the new season also went to Warner Bros. TV last week, for laffer "Mike and Molly" from Chuck Lorre. The Eye unveils its 2010-11 season sked Wednesday with a presentation at Carnegie Hall. The "Hawaii Five-O" redo, starring Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan and Daniel Dae Kim, has been a slam dunk for a greenlight for weeks. Pilot was penned by Peter Lenkov, who exec produces with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. "Defenders" stars Jim Belushi and Jerry O'Connell as a pair of fiery Las Vegas defense attorneys. Pilot was penned by Niels Mueller and Kevin Kennedy, who exec produce with "CSI" maven Carol Mendelsohn, Joe Gantz, Harry Gantz and Davis Guggenheim. Mendelsohn will do double duty next season as an exec producer and uber-showrunner on "Defenders" and "CSI." The "Criminal Minds" spinoff stars Forest Whitaker, Matt Ryan, Michael Kelly and Beau Garrett. Chris Mundy penned the pilot and exec producers with Ed Bernero, Mark Gordon and Deb Spera. "Blue Bloods" revolves around a large family of cops in New York. Selleck stars alongside Len Cariou, Bridget Moynahan, Don- nie Wahlberg, Flex Alexander, Will Estes and Dylan Moore. Series was penned by "Sopranos" alums Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green, who exec produce alongside Leonard Goldberg. "$#*!" My Dad Says" starring William Shatner, stems from the popular Twitter feed written by Justin Halperin reporting the pearls of wisdom that come from his 73-year-old father. Halpern and Patrick Schumacker are exec producers. <HR> CBS cancels seven series The crime procedurals "Cold Case," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Numbers" will not be renewed for next season. Jerry Bruckheimer's drama "Miami Medical" also is canceled, as is fellow freshman "Accidentally on Purpose," which mainly aired as part of a Monday night comedy block. Veteran Wednesday comedies "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried" also have been axed. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Reports I saw earlier today indicate Ghost Whisperer and New Adventures... died while Rules of Engagement lived, I think.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
I like the cast for Blue Bloods. I hope its good.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
So Medium has been renewed? YES!!!
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
The real schedule will be announced tomorrow morning.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
The story in the OP is a little dated. Cold Case, New Adventures of Old Christine and Ghost Whisperer were canned.

Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Final schedule announced -- much shuffling
Turns out, big changes, including launching a comedy block with "Big Bang Theory" on Thursdays against softening incumbent NBC and moving "CSI: NY" to Fridays. Here's the schedule: MONDAY 8:00-8:30 PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER 8:30-9:00 PM RULES OF ENGAGEMENT 9:00-9:30 PM TWO AND A HALF MEN 9:30-10:00 PM MIKE & MOLLY 10:00-11:00 PM HAWAII FIVE-O TUESDAY 8:00-9:00 PM NCIS 9:00-10:00 PM NCIS: LOS ANGELES 10:00-11:00 PM THE GOOD WIFE WEDNESDAY 8:00-9 PM SURVIVOR 9-10 PM CRIMINAL MINDS 10:00-11:00 PM THE DEFENDERS THURSDAY 8:00-8:30 PM THE BIG BANG THEORY 8:30 - 9 P.M. $#*! Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Wow, was CSI Miami feeling the Castle heat, or what?
BBT just became the big gun at the 8/7 hour on Thursdays. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Dang, Monday was my only real TV night with HIMYM and TBBT.
I guess since they split them up with an hour of crap in between, I wasn't tuning in as much anyway, so maybe this is better. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
BBT is going to get killed on Thursday.

It's up against Bones (9mil viewers), Community (less than 5mil), and a new ABC drama. It got nearly 15mil viewers this Monday. Even if it lost a third of it's viewers by moving, it would still win it's timeslot. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Like most people who watch CBS, let me go change my diaper...
And another year where I don't watch anything on CBS. I'm glad I deleted the channel from my DVR. Such a snore. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
I'll likely check out Hawaii 5-0 and Blue Bloods.

Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Weird that they would move Big Bang and Survivor. I can understand moving Big Bang to make it a new anchor, but it would seemingly make more sense to just move that to Wednesday at 8 and leave Survivor alone.
And Shatner = sold. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
RIP Cold Case, I guess.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Wow...Survivor to Wednesday. Breaks up my Thursday 2 hour block of that and CSI.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Hawai'i 5-0 and BBT for me.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Well, CBS has done it again... slowly but surely they seem to whittle down the shows I watch on their network. Now that Christine is gone, I only have HIMYM and Medium. I'd consider Hawaii Five-O" because of Alex O'Loughlin but may skip it considering how shabbily they treated his last show Moonlight. I suspect the production will end up being too "hip" for their standard demographic and cancelled like 99% of the recent "redo"-s or be so blanded out to cater to their demo that I will find it a yawner procedural.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
How in the world are they going to pull off another season of Undercover Boss. Isn't everyone on to that by now? Gee, some new guy showed up at work today shooting a "documentary"... hmmmm.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
I don't watch a thing on CBS anymore but I may check out Blue Bloods. I like Tom Selleck a lot. I just saw that the show used to be called Reagan's Law. Obviously changed to not be confused with Harry's Law on NBC. Blue Bloods sounds so much better.

Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Blue Bloods sounds great. Love Tom Selleck.
Wow! Survivor on Wednesdays! I'm sure it will still get great numbers. Hawaii 5-0 vs Castle....that should be interesting. Will definitely try 5-0 for O'Loughlin and Kim. Glad the Tuesday lineup is remaining the same. Love The Good Wife. I'll have to see a trailer for Jim Belushi and Jerry O'Connell's new show The Defenders to get a better assessment of it. |

Geez do you have to be such a negative Nancy.
I never even gave it a thought that I only watch one half hour sitcom (BBT) on CBS. It's the dullest collection of shows on any major network and I bet, I am one of the older people on this forum. |

Nothing against O'Loughlin, but I don't know why CBS has such a hard on for the guy. I wish they would have spent a little more time casting Steve McGarrett and not automatically choose a guy who has been in 2 failed shows. |
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
For all the TV I watch, I don't watch a heck of a lot on CBS. Although I do watch The Good Wife, How I Met Your Mother, Amazing Race, Undercover Boss, and C.S.I. (although I just DVR that show and only watch them over summer/winter breaks).
I'll try all the new shows, at least for an episode or 2. |

Mmmm, I'm guessing a lot more people saw "Boss" on CBS than "Joe" on Spike.
Looks like they avoided a sophomore slump by filming season 2 before the first one aired. Undercover Boss might have done the same thing. |

You gave up on The Good Wife? That is probably IMO one of the best new dramas of this past season.

Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
I just couldn't get into Undercover Boss. Saw 2 episodes (Waste Management and 7-11) and it's probably one of the most blatantly scripted reality shows ever. I was shocked to see how great it did Sunday nights. I'm puzzled how the hell they are going to pull off multiple seasons of it.

I did. I have such limited time for television (even giving up cable and catching show on the internet when I have time - I'm always behind!) that I seem to be give up on shows easily. So it's safe to say that I should pick TGW back up over the summer (i'm always behind on my shows anyway)? Now that Lost is gone, I'll be down a show in viewings.

Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
Not sure how I feel about BBT moving to Thursdays. It also makes for some DVR conflicts.
|
Re: CBS Fall 2010-2011 Schedule
After 10 years, Survivor on Wednesday just doesn't seem right. It won't feel the same watching it knowing the next day is only Thursday instead of Friday :-(

That first season of Joe was a huge success on NBC, IIRC. And after checking Wiki, it looks like it went on for 4 seasons.
