I don't buy Ben being back to old self, he wanted to kill Widdy for a long time now and he just took his shot.

So.....
Jack is going to take Jacob's place but in the end he might not have to.
I think desmond has something planned to fix everything so that the other timeline will merge and over take the island timeline.

Also it turns out that Smokey wants to leave the island but his main Motivation is to destroy the entire Island.

I thought the episode was okay, but I didn't enjoy it a whole lot. There were too many moments where it was like "okay, I'm gonna tell you the answer," but then they get interrupted, or shot, or what have you. That plot device has gotten so old by this point that I can barely stand it.

I'm sort of liking the Jack story arc. From the first scene of the show they set up Jack's "god complex". When he finally learns to "let go" he actually becomes a protector of everybody.

This is exact proof that Ben is going to double cross the MiB. MiB just messed up. Hows he going to tell Ben he can have the island all to himself if he helps him obtain his goal, and then change the goal to destroying the island?

I didn't care for this one either. I think the shittiness of this season on the whole has just numbed me to the point where I wouldn't recognize a good episode at this point.

Hmmm...much more entertaining than last week. Glad to hear some definitive answers, though we were laughing that it's ironic that the answers they're giving us (ie someone--Jack--must take Jacob's place) are pretty much the answers we've already figured out.

Ultimately, I think the finale will be satisfying in terms of this season's story arc...but in terms of previous seasons, I think it will seem way too vague.

Both proof of what some of us, including Draven very vocally here, have been saying; the writers have been making all of this up as they go along, and often in not very creative, logical, and effective ways. Tonight was just the most recent and glaring example of this. But hey, Jacob visited Widmore and told him he was wrong, so that should be more than good enough for all of us to disregard a two or three year central story arc.
