Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
So deadline.com said it was coming back, then that it's not? They seem to be hit-or-miss lately.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
A couple of months ago I decided to catch up with the episodes I've missed since I stopped regularly watching about 7 seasons ago. I started with season 14 and made it a partly through the 18th before I just gave up. The cast changes were a mixed bag, but the relentless politics became too much. The cases always took a back seat to whatever political point the show was making.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
i still enjoy it and hope it comes back. i do know they are providing some resolve to the Van Buren story line at the end of the year.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
From Ausiello
Now this is what I call a Law & Order twist: NBC is declining to comment on a Deadline report claiming the network has opted to not to renew the long-running procedural for what would have been a record-breaking 21st season. If true, it means Dick Wolf will have to settle for simply tying Gunsmoke‘s record as TV’s longest-running drama series. “It’s a fluid situation,” says a source close to the talks. “It’s not a done deal. It’s possible this is just a negotiations tactic.” I’m told the L&O drama is not expected to have an impact on the expected renewal of Law & Order: SVU and imminent pickup of new spinoff Law & Order: Los Angeles. Developing… |
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Why would NBC not renew it? Aren't it's ratings (and revenue) pretty much guaranteed? Then again, NBC hasn't been making the best decisions, lately...
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I'd think they would at least give it a token 8 or 10 episode order so they could have a finale in November or February during sweeps. I'd think that would be a no-brainer in terms of positive publicity and attracting eyes to the network.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
You would think.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I haven't really watched since Jesse Martin left and Jack was appointed the new Exec DA. How will this affect the other 2? Criminal Intent is already a USA first run show, couldn't they move the original there?

Seems pretty official to me. Nellie Andreeva use to work for the Hollywood Reporter and her reporting is money. Sounds like their Pilot season was good and they are confidant they can bid farewell to this. |
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I don't watch it much anymore. Orbach leaving made it less interesting for me. I'm still sad to see it go. I grew up with this show and liked knowing it was always there. I used to watch it everyday on A&E.
That female ADA on now is probably the hottest woman on tv. |

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Orbach left before he died. He moved to the spin off series Trial By Jury, in which he was to play more of a supporting role. He only completed a few episodes before he passed.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Don't worry. It'll be back as "L&O: New York" eventually.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
NBC should just cancel everything except Chuck and those comedies that people seem to like that are on Thursdays that I don't watch. Start from scratch.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Never watched it. Bye
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Seems kind of dumb to cancel one as you start an new spinoff.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I haven't watched the show in years - am catching up on DVD - but this saddens me just the same. Did the quality slip, or were people just tired of the formula?
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
The past few seasons have been the strongest it has been in years - since the pre-Rohm seasons.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
The latest story says Dick Wolf is going to try to shop the show to TNT since they air the repeats anyways.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Well Law and Order was the only thing that I watched on NBC, I hope they dont go, Like some one else said that they need a Law and Order channel.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Watched the main L&O for years. But at some point it seemed like they were injecting a political point of view. Maybe the politics were there all along. But eventually it was too annoying and I just gave up on the show.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
This'll suck if it's true. The show is easily the best it's been for quite some time.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Didn't they do a Law and Order: London recently? Why not show that over here?
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
They did a UK edition, but they've only made 13 episodes and they reused scripts from the early years of the original series. They retooled the scripts obviously. The plot points are largely the same but there were technological and cultural adjustments and stylistically it was less strait procedural and more dramatic.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
It's been a nice run, but the last 10 seasons paled in comparison to the first 10. I'd rather watch the old eps on DVD and reruns than new ones anyhow.
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
This would suck if it is going to be cancelled. Law & Order has become good again after some not so good years. I think Sisto and Anderson have great chemistry together and Roache has been great as Cutter.
Law & Order is one of those shows that could go on forever IMO. It's never been a show that goes into the detectives and prosecutors personal lives that often and when the cast changes it's just like in real life when people get a different position or are fired, etc. |
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I agree with others that it's gotten a lot better in the past few seasons. I'd much rather see any of the spin-offs get canceled before the original.

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
It's official: Original 'Law & Order' to end
NBC renews 'SVU,' picks up 'L&O: Los Angeles' By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER NBC has scrapped 11th hour plans to save "Law and Order," which has been cancelled after 20 seasons. Peacock simultaneously confirmed that it remains deep in the Dick Wolf business, picking up "Law and Order: Los Angeles," commonly known as "LOLA." "Law and Order: SVU" also secured a pickup. News came a day after word leaked that "Law and Order" would be canceled. But Wolf and NBC were still in talks late Thursday, and it appeared possible the show might be saved. In the end, though, NBC opted to go out with the old and in with the new. "Law and Order" will now conclude its 20th season on Monday, May 24, at 10 p.m. with a series finale. But that won't quite be the end for "Law." The network said it plans to talk to Wolf after the upfronts about finding a way of providing the show more closure. That might include bringing the "Law and Order" characters on to "LOLA's" premiere episode, offering a passing of the torch. Or "Law and Order" could always wrap with a TV movie. "The full measure of the collective contributions made by Dick Wolf and his 'Law & Order' franchise over the last two decades to the success of NBC and Universal Media Studios cannot be overstated," said NBC U TV Ent. Chairman Jeff Gaspin. " The legacy of his original 'Law & Order' series will continue to make an impact like no other series before." Added NBC primetime entertainment topper Angela Bromstad: "'Law & Order' has been one of the most successful franchises in the history of television, which is why it is so critical that we continue this important brand and our relationship with Dick Wolf and his team with 'LOLA' and 'Law & Order: SVU.'" According to insiders, talks went deep into Thursday night to keep "Law and Order" alive, and give it some sort of brief order. But various creative, scheduling and financial models didn't pan out. NBC U had apparently been hoping that Turner might step in and foot the bill for some first-run segs, but TNT -- which made a play for the show in 2007 -- wasn't interested this time. "Law and Order" is already produced efficiently, so attempts to bring down costs were also difficult to pull off. In the end, it appears that "Law and Order" may not be able to beat "Gunsmoke's" 20 season record, and will have to settle for a tie. "LOLA" will follow a similar crime drama structure to "Law and Order" -- but this time on the streets of L.A. Wolf and Blake Masters ("Brotherhood") are exec producers. Show is still being cast. |
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Come on, they couldn't give it ONE more season to break the record?!?! If it's doing so poorly, why add ANOTHER spin-off?

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
Ok NBC has gone full retard. They are going to cancel the original yet launch another spin-off...um...huh?
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
I guess I can understand why they did this but I'm just annoyed that they did this so late in the season. It would be much better for closure of the series and bringing back old characters (Adam Schiff, Rey Curtis, Mike Logan etc) to give it a proper send off.
NY is a big part of Law and Order I'm not sure LA will have that much of an impact on the spinoff, which I will not be watching. |

Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
NBC seems intent on finding new ways to stay at the bottom of the pack .......
|
Re: Law and Order - CANCELED!
