Community -- "English as a Second Language" -- 05/13/10

Photobucket

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
After the shocking discovery that Senor Chang (Ken Jeong) does not have a teaching degree, Greendale Community College is forced to bring in a new Spanish teacher. Meanwhile, Troy (Donald Glover) discovers a trade he truly excels in -- plumbing.

Sounds like a good one.

Episode 24 of 25. Next week is the season finale.

After last week's brilliant episode, I can't see this episode topping it...but fingers crossed.

We all need to go ahead and get comfortable with the fact that this show may never again be as awesome as it was last week. And I'm OK with that. Because last week's was one of the funniest TV episodes I've ever seen.

So let's not start trashing Community and whip out, "It wasn't as good as the Paintball Episode," every week.

Wow! I can't believe how good this show has become. It was really mediocre in the beginning. I think I've already laughed more this week than last week & I've still got 9 minutes.

I think the funniest thing in the episode was Annie's "Disney face"!

I can hardly wait to see who they cast as the anthro professor. I hope Chang doesn't join the group but instead ends up popping in and out like say Starburns.

Definitely a worthy followup to the paintball episode. Great lines, and even some great sight gags. Pierce asleep with a book on his chest entitled "Talk Dirty Spanish" was great.

The twist ending was a nice little surprise too.

Yeah, I was just going to post this same sentiment.

This show started out as a show that I really wanted to like, but the first handful of episodes kind of left me cold. Then something happened as the show got to about the halfway point in the season - everything started clicking. Now it's one of my favorite shows. If the 'paintball' episode doesn't get nominated for awards, there's something really wrong going on.

Troy: "Why is she teaching Spanish if she's a doctor? Go cure something."

Shirley: "Horoscopes are the devil trying to trick us."

Re: Community -- "English as a Second Language" -- 05/13/10

tons of good lines. so glad this was renewed. i laugh more watching this than i do with 30 Rock and the office (generally). with this and parks and recreation, it's a damn good comedy block.

My favorite, heavily paraphrased, line of the night-

Troy: I understood about 50% of it which help me get through the other 50%

Abed: Kind of like the first season of "The Wire".

I'm glad to see Chang go as the professor... he is better as a kind of nemesis character. I too hope that he does not join the group. But I hope use him in the show when needed.

I did not see that ending coming way to go Pierce

So was there some kind of 'Good Will Hunting' parody going on?
I've never seen that movie.

I think the best bit of the episode was Troy stealing the piece of chalk.

I didn't get around to watching the show till the first 4 were on my DVR. Watched them all in one go and by the 3rd I thought it was pretty goddamn awesome. I don't remember a mediocre beginning at all. (Outside of maybe the very first few episodes.)
