I waited since LA X for two episodes, Ab Aeterno and Across the Sea. Aeterno is still my favorite this season and Tucker Gates directed both so I expect good things from this one!

I have no idea what is going to happen in this episode, but I just wanted to say I thought more about my previous theory (Jack sees all his friends die, is compelled to do something with MIB to cause the reset) and I think this is what is going to happen...
I think it's clear the sideways time line is actually a reset time line that takes place after the events on the island we are witnessing. Anybody else saying otherwise is itching for a fight (and have been unable to provide compelling clues to suggest otherwise.) But one thing that came clear after I first posted my theory...it seems that the people who died on the island are the ones noticing things in the sideways timeline isn't how it always used to be. Libby was one of the first we saw notice and also Charlie and Desmond after his experience. But there was Jack and Sun...both of them noticed some kind of scar...something on them they didn't have before.
I don't have to watch the episode to see again where Sun was looking in the mirror, so I am going a bit out on a limb here... Sun was examining her neck/shoulder in the mirror. Wasn't that the same area she was pinned under in the submarine? If so, she's seeing a scar she got from the island and was one of the first to notice something was awry because she died.
Jack noticed his scar on his neck and also his appendix scar almost immediately. Given what we have seen so far Jack HAS to die.
I think that he will become the "candidate" who takes over for Jacob but he will realize once and for all a way to defeat MIB is to sacrifice himself. I still think that will mean causing the bomb to not go off in 1977 (simply because we were told at the beginning of the season we would see what would happen if the bomb went off and if it didn't go off.) It was something Jacob was never willing to do himself, but Jack will be willing to do it. He will die to save everybody else. Keep in mind that's THEORY! If it turns out to be correct, don't blame me for posting spoilers! I am just tweaking my previous theory based on what I've seen on the show since then.

I was thinking of this one, probably because I heard it the other day in Grand Theft Auto.
