A good story with some interesting information going into the series finale.
I just read that Billy Ray finished the 1st draft of the 24 movie. Kiefer and Howard Gordon are looking it over. They said it will probably come out in the next year or 2.

Most likely tornado coverage is all I'll get tonight. I'll have to watch it online later.
Jack Bauer doesn't worry about Tornadoes...Tornadoes worry about Jack Bauer!

Gordon acknowledged that Renee Walker's death was a particularly harsh blow to fans, and he also acknowledged that Katee Sackhoff's Dana Walsh character this season had a "convoluted" storyline. But he defended the character, saying he hoped that by the time Walsh departed last week, "people understood what we were doing with her."
I just wish they would acknowledge that they made some mistakes with the character instead of trying to make it seem like we, the fans, have missed something profound about Dana, when we absolutely have not. If they'd just fess up to the mistake and move on, I'd at least respect them for it. I mean, she was pretty awful the first half of the season, but proved to be a great villain once they fixed the problems, so all was not lost. And they've delivered one hell of a final season, so it's not like they didn't redeem themselves. Just some honesty and humility would be nice.

Speaking of time, in all these years, how come CTU doesn't have a distinct day/night shift? You would think a fresh batch of analysts would show up around 8am or 5pm.

I'd like to get the chance to go back and look at all the times Dana is on the phone talking to Cole. If there are instances she's just on the phone and we're to assume it's with Cole, then I can see where the whole, "OMG he's gonna blow my cover" shit comes in because she could have easily been talking with the terrorists or the Russians.

Now I would have preferred it if she were indeed "stone cold" the entire time, and did it the way someone else suggested: Give the rednecks the address of a location. There is a terrorist connected to the day's events there, and he kills them. At this time, we don't know that they're connected, but she set it up such that they would meet him. I mean, they'd have no problem helping her, their top mole, with an inconvenience. In this situation the reveal could be made soon after that she was working for the terrorists, or it could be saved for later with the probation officer.

That was amazing. I loved how Pillar and his lady friend had no idea what just happened. Classic Jack Bauer. Nice to see Madsen get in on the action too.

So what happened from between Pillar telling Logan to distance himself and Jack & Company entering Madsen's safehold?

Ok, if the next 3 episodes are like this, I think this season ends up behind 5 as my favorite, even with the terrible first half

That interrogation scene was so intense and brutal. I think Jack recognized that he was letting his emotions get the better of him, and how could they not. As harsh as the scene was, it was nice for him to get some vengeance on the person that actually killed Renee; I didn't even realize that the guy probably intentionally shot her where he did to make her suffer...
The lighter fluid and blow torch was crazy. Once he realized the guy wasn't going to talk and that he swallowed the SIM card, it was all over. I can't believe he reached inside and got it, that was nuts.
Agreed. I say we all collectively view the first half as Season 7.5 and the second half as Season 8. This second half has been pure brilliance, brutal, intense, and unforgiving.
Jack wants the truth revealed, but whether the cover-up is exposed or not, he is going to get his revenge, even if it kills him (which we all know it won't because he is going to be in the 24 movie, lol). I think this is integral to the character though; all these years we have seen Jack put himself on the line and he has lost so much, and when he needed it most President Taylor wouldn't help him and do the right thing. At a certain point, Jack was bound to get fed up with all the lies being told and sacrifices he has made and have to take things into his own hands. He's seen this all before and he's just tired of it. I wonder if he is thinking of Kim and his granddaughter in all of this? I think he's thought about them and believes it would be in their best interest if he isn't around, as it will only lead to harm for them.
When he put in that SIM card and called Logan's number...inspired. Kiefer Sutherland managed to capture so much in that brief scene when he realized that Logan was involved. If he was vengeful before, I cannot imagine the wrath he is going to unleash in these last three hours. This is Logan, not only complicit in the events of this season, but the one who killed so many people Jack cared about and tried to have Jack killed on multiple occasions. This is going to be EPIC!
I'm not sure how Cole is going to come out on all this. I think he knows what Jack is doing is the right thing, but thinks he's going about it in the wrong way. I think he is naive to though to think that Dana willingly gave Jack the chip before Jack executed her. I mean, she betrayed them both, tried to set up Jack, tried to kill Jack...not to mention, Cole was unconscious so for all he knows, she didn't give him the chip.
I'm glad Chloe is sort of back on Jack's side now. I like her and Arlo working together. I really hope her and Jack reconcile before the end of the series. I think Cole is going to help Jack again before the day is over.
Glad Madsen's character is back, he was pretty cool in this episode. Jack really needed some help and he came through like a champ. I hope he isn't a casualty in the next three hours, like Jack needs the death of another friend on his conscious.
I hope President Taylor gets some sort of redemption before the season is over. I think her actions have actually been reasonable for the character; she has sacrificed and lost so much for this country and for justice, and I think Hassan's death pushed her over the edge. She wants peace at any cost and has unfortunately made some bad decisions as a result. I think by the end of the season she will acknowledge her wrongdoing and resign...it would be appropriate for the character and a good way for her to finally do the right thing.
As I said above, the previews for next week look incredible. I wish they'd just do the last three hours back-to-back-to-back, because I don't want to wait three weeks for resolution.
