I never liked that guy, I never could stand watching his show nor did I ever find him funny.

Ferguson is much better at coming across as a dick?

Re: Craig Kilborn Returning to Television

Jesus lots of Kilborn hate in this thread. I loved his version of the Late Late Show. During my Junior year of college my roommate and I didn't have class before 11 so we used to watch Conan and or Kilborn each night (one of our local affiliates delayed it until 1am so we'd usually watch the non guest segments of both unless there was a guest we were really interested in). The whole conceited prick thing is his schtick. I also preferred his Daily Show as it has just gotten to political in the John Stewart era (and I never really like him to begin with going back to the John Stewart show on MTV). Leaving the LLS was really a dumb move on Craig's part though.

I wonder if Yambo will be back as well.

I knew there would be, that is why I liked him so much more than the other hosts at the time. People don't get him, they put him on & are turned off because he isn't like the other hosts. His prick image is just schtick & he plays up to it on purpose. He completely doesn't take himself seriously. A Jon Stewart who everyone worships is actually a thousand times more self-absorbed & serious about himself then Kilborn who is really just a total goofball.

Just to clarify, Tom Snyder was the original host of The Late Late Show. I loved his run as host. I found Kilborn abrasive, but more importantly, unfunny. I quit watching the show during his tenure, checking in every now and again if I was too lazy to turn off the TV after Letterman. Most of his guests seemed to just tolerate him, rather than enjoy being there. It was the late night TV show version of being at a party, watching someone obnoxious corner someone else for a conversation.

As for Jon Stewart vs Kilborns Daily Show, I go with Kilborn. Stewart has gotten too political(as he wanted the show to go that way), but it is too liberal now, and he is just another mouthpiece for the democratic party. I like it when comedians go after BOTH parties equally, but Stewart is clearly a liberal and his show is tilted that way.

Although it has nothing to do with Kilborne (with the exception of the fact that it was done on his show)

Re: Craig Kilborn Returning to Television

What's with the Kilborn hate? I liked his "Late Late Show" schtick (never saw him on either "Sports Center" or "The Daily Show"), and this coming from someone that worshipped Tom Snyder's no-nonsense talk approach. I understood that he was playing a role of preppy a**hole full-of-himself host, and that was fine. Great theme song (by Chris Isaak) and, like Ferguson after him, it takes a lot of confidence and brill to host an hour-long TV show by yourself without an announcer or band to bounce off from. Big mistake to quit "LLS" without another gig lined-up though (and no, playing yourself in the Wes Craven slasher flick "Cursed" doesn't count) because the longer you're out of public view the harder it is for audiences to (a) remember you (except for the diehards) or (b) appreciate what you were doing before. Jimmy Kimmel has inherited the 'video clips from the news' approach to late night jokes and, frankly, I don't see a market these days for guys pretending to be preppy a**hole hosts.

I'll check Creggers' new show (my Fox station in NYC will be running it as a test during summer) but my expectations are low. At least I hope he brings back the recurring characters from 'In The News' clips: the 'I Think It's Funny' girl, the Ewok guy, etc.

I don't think he's so much the mouthpiece for the democratic party, it's just that the Republicans are easier targets, especially with the personalities on Fox News out there. It's hard not to make fun of them at this point.

I enjoyed some of his stuff, but there was never a market for preppy asshole hosts.

His sidekick is going to be actress Christine Lakin.

Lakin played the tomboy daughter on the 90s ABC TGIF sitcom Step By Step.

Although the Repub's do make themselves the butt of jokes I'd have to agree that Stewart is somewhat of a liberal however I've also seen him get boo'ed when he's gone after the Dems before which I suspect forces him to shift the show even father left.

Mind you I'm happy about that since I suspect his success was what proved Air America Radio and the new MSNBC could work.

Re: Craig Kilborn Returning to Television

I am a huge fan of Kilborn, and I finally got a chance to watch his show tonight. TRAIN-WRECK!!!!! Geez, it was embarrasing, as it was Chevy Chase-like, as even the audience was giving courtesy laughs throughout because it was so bad. I don't get it, is it this bad because he has been away from TV so long???

Although his female sidekick is hot
