The show is good for the most part.

The dumbest running storyline is the mom struggling with telling/not telling her son about the Vs. It's so stupid. So so stupid. Not a single good reason to not tell him.

Honestly, two come quickly to mind:
*The V jacket that spies on people is always close at hand
*He's a little too close to Anna and Lisa, and could rat Mom out as 5th column.

This show is just so simplistic and juvenille and not in a good way. It's also boring as hell. It's like it was written by 8th graders after somebody told them about the original show. None of the characters have any more than two dimensions, there's zero sense of danger, there's zero sense of a world, it's feels like two sets. The boneheaded leaps in logic, the all talk and no action. If this gets a second season I'll be shocked.

But to answer your question, around 5M viewers and under 2.0 in the 18-49 demos. 2nd season is looking dicey.

Better way to put it, the show isn't drawing many viewers overall for a major network, and not nearly enough of the demographic the network wants to attract.

The fact that they let the soldier live after he saw them means the V's know she is 5th column. That was a stupid prt... why not kill the soldier..

I agree with that. There are so many reasons it was stupid to run instead of finishing off the soldier.

so why didn't Hobbes shoot the soldier after hitting it with an axe?
are we really to believe he didn't have a gun with him?

edit: and I see everyone else also thought that was dumb

Like I said before, I'm pretty sure that Hobbes thought an axe to the chest would kill the soldier. After all, they pretty easily took out some other Vs in past episodes. But this one I think sent him into shock.

Re: "V" -- "Heretic's Fork" -- 04/27/10

I think it's fairly simple to execute both devices; Hobbes hitting the solder square in the chest and being shocked that it didn't work as well as a shotgun blast to the face by someone else in the group as opposed to trying to run. And they still could have had the scene where after all of that there was another soldier who saw them getting away.

It's really just that they've been getting new writers and showrunners and it's like the whiteboard of ideas is constantly being erased to fit the new crew.

She's had AMPLE opportunity to talk to her son w/o the jacket, like in this last episode.

He would not rat out Mom if he knew they were friggin LIZARDS and killing humans.

How would he know they're lizards and killing people? With his whiny attitude and love of the V's, it seems like he would just think she's lying to him just because she doesn't like them. It was setup even more with the whole not telling him about his dad thing.

With the handful of lizard bodies they've left lying around, plus the living breathing one in their group, it wouldn't be hard to show him. This show just abandons logic and reason for plot contrivance. Now it's certainly not the only show to do so, but it's like aren't even trying to hid it.

Where have they left the bodies lying around? Most V's they've killed have been disintegrated or blown up and it's not like they've had the convenience of dragging a dead V body with them when they've killed any. Yeah she could've used Ryan but the last few episodes he's been trying to escape with his wife or sneaking onto the V ship.

I'm just waiting for the reveal that the kid was genetically manipulated or perhaps implanted by the V.

He was having a "Jack Bauer" moment. He thought the axe would be enough.

Hey, it worked for Jack.
