Glee -- "The Power of Madonna" -- 04/20/10 -- 8:59pm to 10:01pm

Glee

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Mr. Schuester is concerned that the girls in the glee club are being disrespected and bullied by the guys. Looking to Madonna and her musical message of equality as inspiration, he challenges the entire team to choose Madonna songs as their next assignment in the hopes that the girls embrace her strength, independence and confidence and that the guys will see the error of their misogynistic ways. The glee club takes the assignment to heart as they perform some of Madonna's greatest hits, including "Express Yourself" and "Like A Prayer." Meanwhile, Kurt and Mercedes give Sue a vote of confidence with a makeover that is definitely in "Vogue".

Special Guest Stars:
Idina Menzel
Jonathan Groff

Here it is the Madonna episode.

Please note the wacky start and end time on the thread title.

Great picture.

Sadly I think I'm going to watch this until tomorrow. Lost is my highest priority right now.

I'm gonna have to do a coin toss as to which to watch first. Tuesdays used to have nothing for me and now I'd die without TiVo!

Looking forward to this episode but the 10:01 thing does screw up the DVR recordings because it won't record Parenthood now.

Why can't you set-up a 59 minute Manual recording for Parenthood?

Glee was awesomely Glee-tastic tonight. Too bad it ran long due to American Idol's over-run, plenty of people will be pissed that they missed out on the final number, "Like A Prayer".

The editing for "Like a Virgin" was well done, and gave me goosebumps. Props to Finn for tagging Santana.

"And I pulled my hamstring, and I went to a misogynist". Brittany slays me.

Yup. Gonna have to hope Hulu gets it up soon.

Great episode though. Could use a little more Quinn, but i'm not complaining.

I'm already looking forward to watching this one again. The songs were all great, as were Sue's one liners. I kinda miss Puck and Quinn, though. I hope they'll get more of a story, soon.

Spoiler:
Kristen Chenoweth has THREE duets with Matthew Morrison AND a solo. The episode is going to be fantastic. There's only two other songs: solos by Chris Colfer and Amber Riley. It will be weird not having Lea Michele sing on a single song.

what happened at the very end of the episode my DVR cut off.

I loved the line where Sue remarked to Will "I could smell the cookies from the elves living in your hair"

What happened during the "Like a Virgin" song? There was Finn and Santana, Will and Emma, and Rachel and the new kid.

My grade-school age kids were in the room, I thought it would be best to "see what's on the other station".

Great episode. I listened to the songs last night and think they worked, and sounded, much better in the context of the show. Like A Virgin was 100x better in the episode than it was just from listening to the song. Vogue was great, but we already knew that. Like A Prayer is in the running for best cover (at least if you have heard the full-length studio version and not the truncated broadcast version). Enjoyed the Open Your Heart/Borderline mash-up as well. Four Minutes was good, but not great. I thought Express Yourself was alright, better in the episode than when I heard it by itself, but definitely the second weakest of the bunch. What It Feels Like For A Girl just sounded bad...

I get what they were trying to do with the episode, and why Express Yourself and What It Feels Like For A Girl made sense for the episode, but all that aside, I wish they had scrapped Express Yourself and What It Feels Like For A Girl and replaced them with Get Into The Groove and Cherish.

The Glee Guys sang "What It Feels Like For A Girl," then Finn met Rachel and Jesse in the hall and extended an olive branch, then the entire group sang "Like A Prayer," only it wasn't the full studio version, which was disappointing as it was definitely the best song of the night.

The "partners" danced suggestively in and around their respective beds while singing the song. Then it cut to Emma, Finn, and Rachel in their respective bathrooms, showing them thinking the decision through. Rachel said something that suggested she was doing to go through with it, while it appeared that Emma might and Finn would not.

I was actually surprised, and disappointed, that Finn went through with it.

they did a suggestigve dance in a sexy way while singing like a virgin, and it synched up nicely

Will's Flowbee line was great.

"Like A Prayer" was the best cover they did IMO.
