Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah Walker from Chuck) wooden voice ?
Is it just me or is Yvonne Strahovski's voice on chuck a bit wooden ? Its like when she speaks, it is devoid of emotion and hence seems not to be trusted. Is it because she has to speak in an American accent ?

Well she is Australian and probably has to concentrate alot harder on her pronunciation of words when reciting dialogue in an American accent. If you have heard her speak naturally, she sounds pretty much nothing like Sarah Walker.

She's used her real voice on the show before as a cover.

I can't stand her. The show would have been so much better if they'd have killed her off long ago.

As long as the sentence contains the words "job" and "blow", not necessarily in that order she can speak to me in as wooden and unemotional voice that she wants.

Reminds me of Zod on Smallville. That guy tries so hard to enunciate it's painful to watch. Almost takes me out of the episode every time.

Never have I heard criticism of Yevonne's acting. If anything praise should be given.

I've just never understood why non Americans are chosen for American roles. Or why Americans are chosen for non American roles. She's Austrailian...great. Why can't her character just be Australian so she can speak in her normal voice? Same with the dude from House. The dude that played Dick Winters in Band of Brothers is Australian too. He was very good and all, but I'm fairly certain they could have found an American actor that could have done just as good of a job and wouldn't have had to change his voice.

As to why they couldn't find an American actor I have no idea, but an American spy with an Australian accent would seem a bit odd.

Are there a lot of Australians in the CIA? I know this show isn't entirely based on realism but they may have been looking for an "American" accent for an American spy role?

Or, again, just get a different actress. I'm pretty sure there was another actress out there that could pull off the role.
My point isn't even about Chuck. It's just the whole idea of hiring "foreigners" and then requiring them to change their accent. I know it's been going on forever but it's idiotic in my opinion.
