Russell Hantz-Where does he rank as a Survivor

Re: Russell Hantz-Where does he rank as a Survivor
If he wins this season then I think he has a real case for best ever (for the record I also believe that of Amanda, JT, Colby, Sandra & Parvati). If he loses before the jury then he has no case. If he loses at the jury then he's the male Amanda, only he's not quite as quite as easy on the eyes (see photo on page 1).

Seems like she won by being good at all parts of the game, but then again, I only remember things towards the end of the season.
Unfortunately she had to quit the first All-Stars, where she might have made an even stronger case for herself, but with her mother dying 7 days after leaving, I'd say she made the right choice.
I do lean towards liking players who step up in the challenges, especially with their back is against the wall. If I had been Greg in season 1, my vote would have gone to Kelly, and Hatch's history would be much different. Including probably never going to prison.

A big problem I have with Jenna is that she only stayed in the game b/c she was ready to quit. Cesternino viewed Heidi as the bigger threat so she left at five. Maybe that was gamesmanship by Jenna, but I don't really think so. I think she just rallied after Heidi left, which I do give her credit for. She won that difficult final four immunity.
The thing with Jenna is the same thing with people like Amber and Natalie; she's overshadowed. Cesternino was the big player and unlike Mariano and Russell he probably would have won the vote (though we'll never know for sure). The final three immunity challenge was slighty unfair (similar to the one that Terry lost as it favored females) so she got to pick him off at three.
I just don't think she played most of the season, and she benefited from Cesternino's dragging Matthew along so he could beat him.

I think it's still too early to rank him....we should wait til after the season....I wonder how he would do in another season if he gets the chance down the road.

Two is impressive, but I guess I thought she had won more than that.
Kelly, from season 1, won something like 4 challenges in row, didn't she? That's the only season that I own, because I don't like watching reality shows again, but I like to be reminded of what this whole thing was like at beginning when it took the country by storm.
It seemed like EVERYONE talked about it at work and every night after an episode it was the lead story as they'd interview people who were watching it in bars and at restaurants, who had gathered just to watch. I would have done it during the early seasons, given a chance. Now, I would much rather do the Amazing Race with my wife.

Re: Russell Hantz-Where does he rank as a Survivor
After the Skupin injury and the Jeff vote off (ending the split numbers), Colby basically ran away with the game, but he had made that final 2 promise to Tina. When it got to final 3 and Colby won immunity he would have wiped the board (and probably been the first unanimous winner) if he had taken Keith. No one really liked Keith. At the very worst it would have been 5-2 (with Jerri & Tina voting for Keith).
As to why he lost to Tina...it was almost entirely a female empowerment thing. Alicia and Elisabeth voted for Tina pretty much entirely because she was a woman, and they liked her. Jerri voted for Tina b/c she was still pissed at Colby. Keith voted for Tina b/c he was closer to her, and he was a little pissed at Colby for not taking him to the end.
Colby was nothing like Russell. Other than Jerri everyone else thought Colby was deserving. It wasn't an anti-Colby vote.
By the way, I still sort of read the other thread, and you aren't the only one who has a thing for Courtney. Even though she way too thin, I still love me some Courtney. I think it's her personality.

Alicia who in her jury speech said on a personal level Colby is more worthy went went against the person she liked better and went with the person who actually played the better strategical game.
There was no reason for Colby to turn on Jerri at F8 other than it was beneficial to Tina.Jerri was very disliked only with Keith being as disliked b but Jerri was 100% loyal to Colby.
Likewise at F7 based on what Rodger and Amber said post show Amber approached Rodger about flipping the vote on Tina-Keith and Colby but Elisabeth would not go along with it because like Colby she went with Tina's a "good people" must win this game plans which only benefitted Tina.
And the female empowerment things make little sense because every time Jerri and Alicia have played Survivor there #1 allies have always been male players.

Colby lost because Tina had him and Elizabeth wrapped around her finger plain and simple.

Re: Russell Hantz-Where does he rank as a Survivor
Elisabeth voted for Tina the same reason Rodger vote Colby because they liked that person more gender loyalty had little to do with it.
He actually probably socially was well liked more then Tina . Amber and Nick who voted for Colby mentioned how he took the time to get to know them as people and Tina didn't.
In the end though whether it was just complete hubris or delusionals levels of loyalty to Tina or a combo of both him voting out Keith was probably the dumbest move on Survivor until recent seasons when people like James and Ozzy started getting voted out with Idols or when Erik gave up Immunity in Micronesia.

Paschal was the judge from Georgia who got screwed when Jeff had them pull a rock out of a bag to decide who went home when the votes were tied.

So how did Richard Hatch end up winning? Besides Sue and Rudy, I don't remember why the other two voted for him, I do remember Greg saying who ever picks the closest number would get his vote, but don't know if he was bullshitting.
Unless I'm mistaken, I thought the people on the jury disliked Richard along with everybody in the media and internet. I wonder how the voting would have gone if Kelly picked Rudy to go to the final two with her.

Sean liked Rich...didn't particularly like Kelly. I've heard that Greg voted his conscience, and the number thing is just something that he asked as a question b/c he already knew which way he was voting. Hard to tell with Greg though. He was a strange guy who definitely didn't go on the show to win.
