decent ep. I'm still wanting more when the credits roll so that's a good thing.

I found the episode pretty boring. The FX at the end reminded me of Reptile in Mortal Kombat, and even that was pretty shoddy back in 1995!!!!

I actually thought that as well.

Plot wise, I'm just not totally digging what they're doing. They seem to be hinting that they are going to emphasize the shock and horror (the pregnancy and Anna eating someone) aspect over the story, which won't work.

I am guessing that what Anna and her daughter want from the son is :

Spoiler:
to conceive the "starchild". Although it looks like one might already be on the way.

Anna's gown was a little "sheer" there at the end...I wonder if Morena knew she'd be showing off that much?

I guess that Hobbes is going to be filling the

Pretty good ep overall. That whole thing about raising an army is interesting too. I think guerilla war or something in the streets between the 5th Column and Vs would be so cool.

This alien baby is going to be a weird story line too...Not sure how I feel about that.

I would've done the mating thing differently. I didn't like teeth either. Smaller teeth would've been better. I can just see them in the sfx session..."No! Go Bigger! Bigger is better!"

I wasn't that impressed with the final scene. I did like the scene with the girlfriend and the rat.

Re: "V" -- Spring Premiere -- "Welcome to the War" -- 03/30/10

I enjoyed the first four episodes (way back in the day) but this episode bored me to tears. Maybe it's because I know some of the plot twists from the original series or maybe it's just poor execution. I think I'll pass on future episodes and maybe revisit it on DVD if it's picked up for another season.

I haven't watched the episode yet (its sitting on the DVR) but it's probably not a big deal to her since I'm sure she showed off more than would be allowed on network tv in a recent movie.

the visual effects on the ship suck balls. the people look like they're floating when they're standing there talking to Anna

I've decided they need more Beastmaster and Captain Hudson

The swirling camerawork and the greenscreen scenes onboard the V-ships are really bad.

Yeah, the FX work here was lacking; I'm chalking that up to the hectic schedule messing with the FX deadlines.

Enjoyed the episode and I continue to enjoy the way in which they quickly deal with the original series concepts and yet introduce new ideas tactfully.

Yep - it sure seems that way.

This episode was a total yawner. Not a a good way to start to try to rekindle interest. But I guess will be a hybrid baby........ at how she was eyeing that dead rat.

Re: "V" -- Spring Premiere -- "Welcome to the War" -- 03/30/10

I thought it was a decent episode, but I realized what bugs me about this version vs. the original: There's too much slick technology on the visitor's side.

It seems like whenever they need to push the plot along, they have another new V technology that finds fingerprints, sends messages out to the troops, holds a secret camera, etc.

In the original, the tech was pretty much limited to ships, weapons and an experimental conversion therapy. That allowed them to create the perfect analogy to WWII, etc. In this version, EVERYTHING the V's do is over-the-top high tech for convenience sake. Successful sci-fi like BSG, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc, seems to put mechanical limits on what can happen in the universe.

And I think you're right about your suggestion, hannibalplan--which is good because that would be a nice addition to the story.

@JuryDuty

Well, the fingerprint reconstruction from the bomb aftermath was ridiculous, but then again they faked it to setup the merc.

Dude, I noticed that too this episode. The scene where Scott Wolf's eating with Baccarina was almost painful. It's a good thing that I'd probably say this was the only drawback, but still. It's distracting and laughable.

I was happy that Joel Gretsch survived, I like the priest character, although I suspect there's a Firefly-Preacher vibe going on with him since he seems to have some beatdown skills.

I thought it was funny that they wanted to get rid of the dead "V" lizard guy... I would have walked out into the middle of times square in front of Fox News building, with this dude's face ripped 1/2 off showing the lizard underneath - flashed my FBI badge and said --- this Visitor just tried to attack me - they are monsters look.

End of Story.

Or at the very least, tear off the fake face, dissect that dude and find out what you're dealing with. The body just never showed up again.
