The Simpsons -- "Postcards From The Wedge" -- 03/14/10

"Postcards from the Wedge"
Spoiler:
When Bart fails to turn in his homework, Mrs. Krabappel sends a letter home about Bart's behavior. Despite Bart's best efforts to intercept it, Homer reads the letter, and he and Marge visit Principal Skinner for a parent-teacher conference. Furious, Homer punishes him, but Marge takes a more sympathetic approach. When Bart realizes he can pit Homer and Marge against each other to his benefit, his scheming reaches new heights.

Just close your eyes and think of Millhouse.

Line of the season right there. I lost it when I heard Lisa say that, totally unexpected.

"Once again, sleeping at work has saved my marriage."

I think it's safe to say that The Simpsons has rediscovered its heart. This season has been great, in large part to the emotional core that is at the heart of the Simpson family. That's what made the earlier seasons so great, and I think this and last season the writers and producers have realized that and made a conscious effort to get that back.

Not bad, but there's been better this season.

It was kind of weird seeing Homer and Marge make up in the middle of the episode instead of the end.

Another great episode. This (season 21) has easily been the best season of Simpsons since 9 or 10.

I agree. I'm not one of those people that thinks The Simpsons was terrible in recent years, but I recognize that the show was nowhere near as strong as it was in its first 9 years. This season changes all that though; the ideas have been fresh, the emotional core is back, the jokes are consistently funny, and the stories start strong and remain strong until the credits roll. I think the upswing started near the end of last season, but this season easily surpasses the quality of seasons 11 through 20. I

I would put myself in the same boat. I have always been a fan of the Simpsons but after watching this season it is very easy to tell how the quality was lacking prior to this year.

Funniest episode in quite a while. They mysterious way Bart got his rectal temperature to 103 was pretty funny.

Also loved the "House" Itchy & Scratchy.

Is someone different voicing Krabapple? It sounded a little weird to me.

No, it's just that Marcia Wallace is getting old.
