FOX decideds NOT to renew '24'

Variety is reporting that FOX will not be offering "24" a spot on the schedule next year.

Rumors of the show moving to NBC...

lol wut?

Besides Idol, this is Fox's biggest show, right?

It has incredibly high production costs for a show that gets a 2.4-2.8 out of Fox's biggest show, House. It's no longer a show to launch new shows off of. It's run its course.

NBC will not be picking this up. No way. It's far too old and does not have much life left in it.

yeah, but it's been declining big time...

let NBC have it, make it more colorful and finish it off completely

I have to agree. I only mentioned it in my original post because every article from variety to THR right now is mentioning that. Personally with a script already being written for the feature film I think that not only is FOX ready to move on with the expensive series (especially since the final handful of episodes haven't been written yet) and now Sutherland is probably looking at relaunching through a film (series?).

No.

of course after typing that, I forgot about House.

But I guess Fox needs more reality shows. Hopefully they end this season with a bang then

Can't say that I'm all that surprised by this...

They should reboot the series with Renee as the new star. Send Jack to the movies and keep Renee on TV.

Good. I was excited last year when the show still had some promise. This year it's nearly unwatchable. I wonder how they will wrap this up if this news is true.

Sucks, but not surprising. Go out with a bang this season, spin Renee off, and give me 3 movies and Ill be happy.

I always hoped they would spin off Tony Almeida until they ruined his character.

This year has been awful. I finally gave up after 5-6 episodes. The worst was the "Jenny from Rock Springs" nonsense.

I would care but I'm still a little sleepy from Monday nights episode.

Tony Almeida was a great character but his turn last season was a far better sendoff than how he was offed previously.

This news isn't surprising. I'm just sad that this snoozefest is how 24 will go out.

^Definitely. Ending on an even numbered season is a bad idea. Outside of season 2, they have always been the worse that 24 had to offer.

I knew it had to happen eventually, but I honestly thought it had another year or two to go. Wasn't Keifer's contract up this year as well? That probably necessitated the decision more-so than movie plans.

I'm about three episodes behind. Should I bother catching up?

Haven't seen it this year since I usually wait for the DVDs... is it worse than season 6?

Season 6 is a masterpiece compared to Season 8.

Fox really is only interested in the 18-49 demos. 24 has been getting about a 2.8 or a bit lower in that demo. Other shows like House, Glee, Bones, Family Guy/Simpsons and even Kitchen Nightmares typically get those numbers or higher.

Jack Bauer
Starbuck
LeoBen
Sark

Yet they somehow managed to put them together in a horrible fashion.

When you put it that way, 24 sounds like it would be a perfect fit at NBC...
