Re: Nip/Tuck "Hiro Yoshimura" SERIES FINALE 3/3/10 65 MIN
Just finished the episode and I agree with most of the comments on the board. I thought it was a good ending, made fitting with the final scene - but at the same time I was expecting something ridiculously insane to happen (like the carver reappearing or Liz getting brutally murdered). But weirdly enough it was fitting that the show kinda went out with a whimper, a happy one, but definitely a whimper.

Wasn't the conversation in the airport bar an exact duplicate of the conversation that began the series?

As others said, it went out with more of a whimper than anything, but that ending scene was perfect and fitting. Sad to see it go, but it was definitely time.

Wow. This show used to be so good.
Matt is the most worthless character on TV. Didn't he ever get paid back for his friend taking the fall for him in season 1 and being put in Prison?
Did they forget about that?

Matt has had a couple of really shitty years and some time in prison with a rapist. Consider that payback

His friend didn't take the fall for him, IIRC. They were in league together. He just took the rap solo.

The highlight of the finale for me is when they showed the scene of the whole family at the dinner table while playing Garfunkel's "All I know". I remember hearing that song at the end of the second season when the Carver stabbed Christian. I had never heard the song before and thought it was beautiful. Hearing it again last night just made me realize how much I love this show and how it will be missed.

What was even the point of the FBI agents and then burying the body a few episodes ago. It makes no sense to do that then never mention it again. Did the writers just totally forget that?

I thought the series kind of got weaker in the 5th, 6th, and 7th season, but I loved the finale.
At the end of the day, this show changed TV; it did, that's a fact. I'll remember the great, meticulously well written and acted drama, the amazing actors, everything. Thank you Nip/Tuck.

I enjoyed everything after the dinner scene, a nice ending. But too little too late.
They could have done nicely this season if they'd cut about half the episodes and made things actually matter instead of simply being dialogue to be forgotten the next week. Kimber dying, the changing nature of the business, going to therapy, Sean's kids leaving... all of it could have made for a powerful finale. Instead each story was brushed aside each week as the reset button was pushed.
And Matt should have rotted away in prison.
It's interesting how similar the next to last segment was to the Season 2 finale. Watching it again gave me chills.

Still I concur that the reset button got mashed a few too many times.
At least they didn't really do anything to mess up that "Connor McNamara, 2026" couldn't still happen in the characters' future.

I stopped watching after The Carver. When The Carver's season ended, and the next one started, I lost interest, other than seeing a bit of an episode here and there.
